    Andy,
    I briefly looked into their program. I liked how they pair up their classes with certs, pretty cool idea. I thought the cost of the education was a little high (IMO).

    I know vonnell just finished this program, so he is much more qualified to speak to this specific program.

    I would encourage you to look at the list of schools the NSA "accredits"
    http://tinyurl.com/d6lck for IA and NS.

    If you want more of the management side, I would look at U. of Dallas, if more technical maybe consider Capitol.

    Hi Andyhutch,

    Value=10
    Quality of Teachers=8
    Content=9
    Duration of Studies=8

    1 low - 10 high

    Summary,

    Value, this fits what I wanted to do in my future. I wanted to complement my IT experience with management and IT security. This is basically the policy maker degree, not the guy updating the access control list. Also, the value of having a MS in Management and the emphasis on security helps in the medical field a great deal.

    Quality of Teachers, I found it varied from subject to subject. I have an extensive IT/security background being a prior CTO (Chief Technical Officer). I knew more than the guy teaching on various areas in IT but, I was taught new Ideas also.

    Content, Pretty good, modern books that were very good reference material in the everyday life of an IT security person. I love the Cybray online that was filled with thousands of resources. The only down side is that it's not very intuitive to learn.

    Duration of studies, some topic were just fine but the project management should have been a little longer. The program follows the PMI (Project Management Institute) model and is a member of PMI for curriculum or something like that. I don't remember the fine print :)

    Overall, it was great for me. I have already inquired about teaching with the 3 universities over here in Japan (on base) and have received awesome results. I hope that helps, just my insight, good luck with your decision.

    S/

    Thanks Vonnell. How much did it cost and how long did it take ? I'm a former CIO and now CISO so this might be a good fit.

    I just finished my MSM-IT with CTU (on campus, not DL) in December and the cost for the whole program (tuition, fees, & books) was around $15k. It took me 18 months, but I took a quarter off in the middle because our baby was born...believe the average if you go straight through is 15 months.

    Make sure you give Capitol College Master of Science in Network Security program a good look.

    MSM-ISS Cost

    Andyhutch,

    My apologies for not writing earlier I've been extremely busy at work. After tallying up my total cost of school it was $22,126. -15 months of GI Bill which is about $1000 a month leaving a total of $7,126 plus or minus a graduation fee of about $125.

    Sincerely,
