Hello out there, this is my first post here. I have been reading for a while and have found some useful and interesting information.

I am an LPN. I am single and I work full time. I find traditional education difficult for me as I am somewhat ADD and ADHD. I find that nontraditional forms of learning are a little bit easier for me, as I can study at home and take breaks as needed.

One of my biggest desires right now is to finish school. I found that Indiana State offers an LPN to BSN program online that requires some clinical work that can be set up locally. All classes are either online or CLEP, DANTES, or ECE exams.

Anyone else out here pursuing this type of degree? I looked into the Excelsior LPN to RN program and really didn't like it. I like that the end result of this is my BSN. Instead of doing it in two steps I can complete it in one.

I would love to find some support and maybe someone else doing this program. I could use an e-mail buddy or someone just to chit chat with to help me stay motivated.

    Thanks so much,

    Jenn

    Hi Jennifer,

Although I don't know much about LPN - BSN programs, I do know that Indiana State will be my choice school when I pursue my MSN degree. After spending almost too much time researching DL nursing programs, this one appears to have all the qualities that suit my personal needs:

    - Entirely DL, even clinicals and (I assume) check-offs
    - A state university that seems to not be in any danger of losing accreditation anytime soon
    - Tuition is lowered to state levels for all fully DL students
    - Coursework is equivalent to local universities
    - The options offered to nursing students is pretty darn good compared to other schools

Good luck to you in your search!

    Indiana State Nursing

I'm currently enrolled at Indiana State University in the Electronic Technology program. My room-mate in the dorms was a nursing major.

He had to maintain a "B" grade level or they would kick him out of the program.
However, he is now working in a very elite hospital in Fort Wayne so I guess his hard-work paid-off.

Indiana State University is an excellent avenue for many people and your work will not be without rewards. I recommend the school from my personal experience. It is under-rated. However, Princeston Review has ranked it best in the region. It is just starting to get the recognition that it long deserves.

    Indiana State University

One drawback of Indiana State University is the price of tuition is rising. However, the reputation of the program is rising too.

Whups! Just found a great source of information on LPN-BSN from ISU (if that's something you're interested in). I'll post the link in a moment:

    Indiana State University
Indiana State University is rated one of the best colleges in the Midwest by The Princeton Review. Indiana State offers the following online bachelor of science in nursing degree programs:

    Online LPN to BSN Degree
The College Network partners with ISU to provide a LPN to BSN via Distance Learning. Complete your general education courses (about 60 credits) with The College Network's comprehensive learning materials. After you have completed your general education and elective courses, you will complete your upper-level courses online and receive your BSN from NLNAC accredited Indiana State University. All clinicals are local and no clinical testing is involved. (Must be a licensed LPN or LVN to qualify)
