That's classic Shakespearean and it's awesome!

As many people already know, the serpent used scripture when he deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden. The devil also used scripture when he unsuccessfully attempted to lure Jesus into sin -- until the Lord told him to go away.

That must have been quite a feat, especially since the Scriptures were not yet written.

But, me again, what's with the sudden burst of quoting Bible verses? Granted, they may have more credibility than Limbaugh, Beck, Prager, et. al, but this is a new tactic for you.

It leads me to offer you both an insult and a compliment . . .

    The insult: You're proof-texting like a Fundie.

    The compliment: You're proof-texting like a Fundie.

But seriously, I hope you get the chance to take a course in apologetics as part of your MA studies at Franciscan. There's been a greater emphasis on apologetics in the Catholic Church, and a background in that would improve your argumentative skills tremendously. You wouldn't have to be in d-e-n-i-a-l so much. :silly:

Jesus is the Word of God and He existed long before his Word was put into print (in the current form that we have it e.g. the printed scriptures). Thus, it would have been more appropriate to note that the serpent quoted God in Genesis 3:1 -- and not the current printed scriptures. Conversely, that was an excellent catch on your part and is quite remarkable.

Still chewing on the other remarkable things that you wrote. :)

Gosh, maybe he should send out some threatening tweets! It appears that the Freedom Caucus is not to worried of the wrath of the tweeter-in-chief. I guess certain things stop working after a while.
