Hi, I am currently considering getting a graduate psychology degree (e.g. M.A. or M.S. in Psychology) to practice counseling (legally, with a license). However, I feel that I have a special case, and would like some feedback on this. Please consider the following facts: 1. I already have a masters degree (MBA); 2. I am currently enrolled at NCU in a PhD program in Business Administration; 3. I am currently working in Psychiatry as an RN (and therefore have lots of experience in the field); 4. I have been an "unlicensed" therapist (under the guise of hypnotherapist and minister) and have lots of experience in counceling / therapy; 5. I would like to avoid endless hours of internship (I believe it is 2,000 hours or more here in California) unless I could use my work hours in inpatient psychiatry as such; 6. I would be willing to (temporarily) move to another state that has easier licensure requirements and has a reciprocal agreement with California; 7. I would like a degree / license with the least amount of hassle / academic work / practicum hours / expenses possible. Thanks in advance for your help, feedback and support.
Masters degree Check out Liberty U. I think they have a short Masters besides one for licensure. Also, many of the other DL schools have some form of Masters degree in counseling. Saybrook Institute might accomodate you. I believe also Antioch U. HOpe this helps a little.
