After my rejected application for a local B&M PhD program (English), I decided that I needed to beef up my CV a little. In the past couple of months, I have gotten the following accomplished:

    1. Article accepted for publication in a scholarly journal.

    2. Conference presentation proposal accepted for a major conference this fall.

Not too bad for a couple of months of trying...

Congratulations. You were applying to the TTU English PhD, right? Sorry that didn't work out for you, but it looks like you've got some really good things happening now.

Actually, I applied to Texas A&M. I just can't make myself get excited about the TTU Tech Writing PhD. Maybe I will eventually change my mind, but for now, I am leaning toward doing the Sam Houston online MA in History.

Very impressive accomplishments. Please provide any links to online information about either of your two projects.

Sure: Here is the link to the conference at which I will be presenting. I don't think they have anything posted yet on the presentations, but this is the current link:

My article (on the semiotics of Umberto Eco) will be published in ETC: A Review of General Semantics. It is slated for a July publication, but could be pushed back to the October issue. Link to publication is here: The Institute of General Semantics » ETC: A Review of General Semantics
