Not a moron, he got a jump on the inevitable Katrina Job he knew was coming.

And whose fault is that? Trump's? He is to perform magic?

Yes, it is Trump's fault because he is not providing adequate resources to effectively resolve the problem.

You say he was to perform magic. Amazing.

    Exactly.

The state-owned socialist Puerto Rican electric company PREPA was a disaster area long before any hurricanes hit. It was running $350 million annual deficits, its debts far exceeded its assets and it was no longer able to fund itself by borrowing since its creditor banks had cut it off. (Damn capitalist bastards!) So given their limited revenues, the only way that they could afford to buy fuel to feed their generators was to raid their maintenance budget. So they haven't been doing any needed maintenance and were patching things band-aids and duct tape. Parts of Puerto Rico had been experiencing repeated power failures long before the hurricane arrived.

The company says that it would be able to operate in the black, if the government hadn't voted in low-cost utility subsidies for all kinds of politically favored constituencies, without reimbursing the company for lost revenue.

So the whole electric supply network, so reminiscent of what we see in Venezuela, collapsed like a house of cards. It needs to be totally replaced. But the utility, to say nothing of the bankrupt Puerto Rican government that owns it, have no ability to fix things, just a limitless ability to screw thing up.

Then miraculously, the hurricane gave the Puerto Rican government the opportunity to say, 'Hey, it's not our problem, it's all Trump's fault!'

And as this thread illustrates, political opponents here in the mainland will try to exploit the whole thing as political ammo against Trump.

This is from May of this year: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/report-puerto-rico-s-drinking-water-brink-crisis-n756906

It's about the sorry state of Puerto Rico's drinking water. Venezuela, indeed.
