Not back George, just passing through on my way to ... can't remember ...

At least I stay in one place - '...where's George?...'

'...Well, this week US, next week France, following week a guest of P&O shagging somewhere, after that Mexico, last week South Africa ...'

Might pop in on yer missus - she must be gittin' lonely ... ;)

Wow, Peter French and Rich Douglas in the same thread. What next, Emir Mohammed and Larry McQueary?

John Bear, wondering who's ahead in the
tight race between Father Hesburgh and
the King of Thailand for the most degrees
ever (if we include honoraries). They were
each in the vicinity of 150, the last time
    anyone reported on this.

    Hi, I'm new here.

In my country Master and Bachelor degrees are relatively new, but due to the Bolonga Process in Europe our old degrees vanish and our universities switch to the Master/Bachelor system.

But there is something I don't understand in the following listing

How can someone get a J.D. degree without studying law
Well, I can understand the M.B.A and D.B.A, cause he studied Accounting and Economics but a J.D. without a law study?
Or is a J.D. an awarded degree after a law study and not a degree where you have submit a written dissertation, or a law study with written dissertation?

    For the record

    Vordiplom
    Diplom-Kaufmann

Americans all want to have doctorates.

American JD (Juris Doctor) = British LLB (Bachelor of Law)

American MD (Doctor of Medicine) = British MB (Bachelor of Medicine)

American DPharm (Doctor of Pharmacy) = British BSc (Bacelor of Science in Pharmacy)

    and the list goes on

    All just coursework

Oh well, that explains a lot...

If doctoral degrees are awarded without a written dissertation, does that also mean that, they don't have to write a thesis for the master degrees?

Yes, well it might explain a lot but it does not explain everything. Legitimate PhD programs require a written dissertation (in the US this typically follows some amount of additional graduate level coursework) but not all Masters degrees require a written thesis. I hope that clarifies things for you. ;)

i know this is an old post, but i was thinking about the same thing just a few mins ago. i come from a country where only connections matter, not the degrees you have, so i have always tried to become better than all these people who 'know people' and i ended up studying a lot, but now...i am kind of liking it :)
i got a BA in history, MSc in Investment Management, MSc in Public economics, i am currently applying for LLB and CFA

I did end up getting my fourth. Since I get free tuition at my university, I have been considering another...
