...and the thing it authorizes is commonly referred to as "a fence". As distinct from "the wall".

Ho-ho. So you did your research; you found a Bush-era program that Obama made dormant when came to the office and then dismantled. And what you say is "well yeah, but look, there really was an Obama muslym registry!". Do you not see how dishonest that is?

    Shrill

Despite the shrill cry of foreigners, socialists, leftists, Democrats and the mainstream media, President Donald Trump will remain in power for eight glorious years. He will continue to perform magnificently during his tenure and the United States will be handsomely blessed by his deft leadership and astute insight. After that, Vice President Pence will serve for four more years as president. The shrill cry of deluded people remains (and will remain) moot during this awesome tenure.

Preach it! Of course people not from here want to change things. He will have eight and then Mike will have eight more!

I think that an increasing percentage of the American people are realizing that. Given that virtually all of the mainstream media opposed Trump in the most hysterical over-the-top ways (Nazi! Racist! Xenophobe!) the fact that he won nevertheless demonstrates that the media is losing its hegemony over public opinion. (The New York Times likes to boast that the nation's agenda is set in its editorial conference. That obviously isn't the case any longer.) Opposition from most of the media, the celebrities and the pundits probably played into Trump's hands, by underlining that he really was an outsider just like those who voted for him, something that those voters might have doubted otherwise, given that he was a New York billionaire.

They certainly seem to have given up any pretense they ever had to unbiased objectivity.

The first rule of rhetoric is that in order to win arguments, you have to make your opponents want to agree with you. The constant trashing of Trump and his supporters doesn't seem to be intended to win those supporters over at all. It just further alienates them.

I think that right now, the "journalists" are just flashing 'progressive' gang-signs, trying to proclaim their solidarity with their suddenly threatened homies. The left isn't interested in trying to convince Trump's voters, they are just trying to convince each other that "You're strong! You're good! You're right! You aren't alone! You're still surfing the wave of inevitable social change!"

I'm none of those things, and find opposition to Trump no more "shrill" than the stupid nonsense I heard for eight years about how Obama was a Muslim Marxist from Kenya, at times from Trump himself.

Or just coming to life. We are all journalists now.

Hmm- The phrase "attacking the source of reports". I will illustrate just on small example since I am running out the door. If you wish to distort the facts, lie about it and then double down on it. Then, send out your monkey of a spokesman Sean Spicer to repeat the untruth. See below:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/21/us/politics/trump-white-house-briefing-inauguration-crowd-size.html

See how that works? Easily predictable. A fact that is easily verifiable is denied. Then, to further clamp down on untruths and a distortion of reality, you send out Conway to tell Chuck Todd that Spicer was offering "alternative facts". That sounds like some new kind of PC term for something known as lying.

This is but on small recent example of Trump's way of operating. If you get a tough question, or someone writes a story you don't like, you just say! Hey reporter - You are fake news! Of course, he seemed to love this supposed fake news outlet when they gave him millions in free air time.

I can go on and on, but I must conclude my comments. Time to go have a belated birthday brunch with my family!

BTW - The whole voter fraud scandal that Trump is pushing is just unreal. His sources are conspiracy theorists.

No we're not. We're commentators, and anyone can have an opinion.

    Mainstream media's shrill commentators

The openly communistic mainstream media has notoriously invented fake news, which is nothing more than opinionated fiction from overpaid shrill commentators.

The problem is that journalism has drifted away from the image of journalists as human cameras, just reporting objective facts. (We still occasionally see that during breaking news events.)

Journalists today seemingly spend most of their time expressing their own (and their editors') opinions about events and pronouncing moral judgment on them.

The line between unbiased reporting and partisan activism is growing increasingly indistinct.

Ah! I see the term "shrill" is making a comeback from the GWB days? You know who is shirill? Kelly Ann Conway!

Want to see bad reporting? Please read anything from New York Times pre election day and tell me the media was not shilling for Clinton. They were running stories non stop mocking Trumps claim that the election was rigged. They also were claiming Trump supporters were going to take to the street and terrorize people and how they would need to accept a Hilary victory.

I got to hand it to Mr. Trump. Most people can't get condemned in strongest terms by the freaking ADL, while also moving the embassy to Jerusalem. Enrage the Jewish community while also pandering to it. Bravo! Also, starting restricting Muslim immigration in a fashion that, by its very nature, affect people with valid visas first (and there were vetted already)? So you have an Iraqi interpreter for the U.S. military, a family of Syrian Orthodox Christians (I'm Ukrainian Orthodox btw), a female medical researcher heading for the postdoc to Harvard, green card holders back from visiting Grandma, detained and/or pulled from the flight... On top of it, making the ban apply to permanent residents (also known as "legal immigrants"), doubling down on this when the DHS expressed doubt, and then having to backtrack post haste? None of this was that hard to predict if they'd know anything about how legal immigration works (you know, pay attention to Melania's petitions, who was H1B2 and allegedly adjusted status to EBGC while dating Trump, and later naturalized). If the next 4 years will be like this I don't have to worry about 2020.

This law was passed by the Democrats under Harry Truman...
Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952:
"Whenever the president finds that the entry of aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, the president may, by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrant's or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate."

Obama used this same law at least six times between 2010 and 2014 against people in Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Crimea without even a whimper from the ACLU, ADL

Why am I talking to you about this? You are an immigrant!

Big deal and non-news. I personally know of an Afghan TERP (Interp) who came to the USA. He was given a FREE BS and MS degrees due to revere racism. The USA having become Nation of special rights....sad!
