The newsgroup aed is currently overrun by a rather troubling person's post accusing John Bear and others of high crimes and misdemeanours and of people at degreeinfo.com as being "...conmen supporting a known fraudster called Dr
    John Bear."

With these degree mill types running about, it's more of the "more things change, the more they stay the same mantra."

Sounds like it is the same "group" that basically destroyed a.e.d. in the first place. My ISP Usenet news server no longer handles the alt based groups. While they did I noticed that these people would go away for a while but would seem to return for short bursts.

The person doing it has a case against anyone who posts negative things about Berne University. He's a graduate of Berne and teaches at a college in New York. He went so far as to write (anonymously, of course) UIU and make false claims about me. UIU's counsel warned him to stop or face legal action. So he's returned to his "CS" behavior on a.e.d. He's also spamming the heck out of me on About.com's Distance Learning site, using several guises.

Ah, an English major (with a Philosophy minor?), I see. My statement should have read:
" 'the more things change, the more they stay the same' mantra."
I made an error in the placement of my quotation marks. :D

Oh, so he's a PhD fraud with one of those silly bogus degrees from Berne University? I guess that I better be careful what I say then. (Actually there are degree mills that will send you worthless diplomas for much less than one must pay to Berne University but I won't mention that outside of paranthesis because I don't want to upset any PhD frauds.) :D

I must be in the wrong business........Vending Machines! That's the answer!!!!
If I were to set up several diploma printing vending machines on the Berne University campus..........just think.....I could probably sell 300 PhDs per day!

    Roy,

What is the price for one of those machines, I'd like to purchase one. Could you please e-mail me privately, I don't want anyone at DegreeInfo to know that I have one. ;)

You forgot to put that sentence in paranthesis so I think that everyone might have seen it.

Sure Russell, no problem....but you will need to get your vending machine accredited by a bogus accreditation agency. Got any in mind?

Not a problem at all, Roy. I will create my own accrediting agency--which should have just as much legitimacy/credibility/recognition as any of the others. ;)

I would think that the 'degree carts' that exist outside many Chinese universities (according to the Chronicle of Higher Education), where diplomas are printed to order, comes pretty close. The Chronicle's picture was taken from some distance away; I'd love to see pictures of one, up close.

I suspect you are too late.
The vending machines must already be vending, or whatever it is that they do. :D

You have to think carefully of what you'll be doing differently if you are to attract new hopefulls.

Very confusing. I see many usenet posts by Tim Sigler about John Bear and Rich Douglas. Plus posts that seem to be directed at Rossi Hassad of Mercy College. It's hard to believe that Hassad would be dumb enough to spam the newsgroups. If someone was really disgusted about a worthless and embarrassing degree, I would think he would keep as quiet as possible about it -- perhaps while working on something better.

Perhaps I'll leave this one to the psychologists to figure out...

    And yet, he does.

Ironically, no one "outed" him regarding his Berne University Ph.D. I made some comments about Berne on a.e.d. and BANG! The guy starts spamming, then contacting UIU and claiming I wasn't doing my own doctoral work. He wrote UIU 10 or 15 times until their counsel told him to knock it off or face legal action. So he went back to the "anonymous" postings.

Even after this invasion of privacy (which, I'm advised, is both defamatory and tortious interference), I had no intention of revealing the guy's name. But he won't knock it off. You'd think the guy would leave it alone.
