    Hey guys,

    I have submitted all of my transcripts to Excelsior and Western Governors University. Should see the results soon.

    If there is a very large investment in time at those institutions, I may just go ahead with whatever choices I have for a RA Masters that accepts an NA Bachelors.

    I was hoping you guys could help me with college choices. I kinda need sure things right now to make a decision, not schools that are going to fight me tooth and nail all the way through the application process due to my BA being NA.

    So, if you could, could you guys list RA Masters Programs that take an NA Bachelors in the following subjects:

    Masters of Information Technology, Masters in Information Services, Masters in Telecommunications with the following Concentrations::

    Telecommunications
    Network Design
    Networking
    Network Architecure, etc.

    Any that have a focus on Networking and telecommunciations or networking, I am not looking for a programming, database, computer Science, type focus. Also, would like the degree to be focused on Technology more than Business classes.

    Thanks so much! I just gotta see my options!

    Is there a specific reason your graduate degree must itself come from a regionally accredited institution? How far along are you in your undergraduate degree at Mount Sierra College?

    TUI University, formerally Touro University International, states "All TUI University Graduate Programs require: a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in a related field for the program you are applying for with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or above."

    The Master of Science in Information Technology Management (MSITM) consists of 9 courses (36 credit hours) at USD1200.00 per course.

    "TUI University (formerly Touro University International) is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, 985 Atlantic Avenue, #100, Alameda, CA 94501, 510-748-9001." - TUI University web site

    Cool, so TUI has accepted nationally accredited BA's before?

    I will check out there programs.

    The reason I am going for an RA degree is because my associates and bachelors are both bationally accredited and I am seeing more and more job postings stating they want an accredited degree and when you look at the details of the job they actually list regional accreditation specifically. My NA degrees have been of great utility so far for me, but I would like to have at least one RA degree for the utility it would offer and so I could go to any school I want for another masters degree in the future.

    BTW I will be done with my BA from MT Sierra in the beginning of December, six more classes left!

    Well the web site states the only requirement is an accredited degree. Recently, people with nationally accredited (DETC) credit hours or degrees have been able to transfer credits into regionally accredited institutions; sometimes with the help of a letter from DETC itself. There is a link to that letter somewhere in this forum.

    Best of luck with your studies.

    I believe Kaplan University has the type of program you are looking for, and they definitely accept an NA bachelor's degree.

    It would be expensive as hell, but impressive on your resume. Syracuse University has the Master of Science in Telecommunications and Network Management.

    The admissions requirements call for a bachelor's degree earned in the U.S. It does not specify NA or RA, so you could give it a shot.

    I. Primary Core: 16 credits

    This set of five courses orients students to the information profession, management, policy, and the field of telecommunications. A capstone course gives students an opportunity to synthesize what they have learned. IST 601 and IST 653 are taken the first semester.

    * IST 601 Information and Information Environments (1 credit)
    * IST 614 Management Principles for Information Professionals
    * IST 618 Survey of Telecommunications and Information Policy
    * IST 653 Introduction to Telecommunications and Network Management (gateway course)
    * IST 656 Telecommunications and Information Network Technology
    * IST 753 Advanced Telecommunications and Network Management

    II. Secondary Core: 9 credits

    Students must take at least one of the listed courses in each of the following streams. Additional courses from this list count as electives.

    TNM Technology Stream

    * IST 555 Distributed Computing for Information Professionals
    * IST 634 Security in Networked Environments
    * IST 648 Broadband Wireless Network Technologies
    * IST 659 Data Administration Concepts and Database Management

    TNM Industry and Policy Stream

    * IST 556 Wireless Interactive Communications
    * IST 642 Electronic Commerce
    * IST 775 Information Industry Strategies

    TNM Management Stream

    * IST 619 Applied Economics for Information Managers
    * IST 623 Introduction to Information Security
    * IST 641 Behavior of Information Users
    * IST 645 Managing Information Systems Projects
    * IST 755 Strategic Management of Information Resources

    III. Electives: minimum 8 credits

    The electives can include a 3 credit hour internship IST 971 or Co-op IST 972. Other courses not listed also may be available and applicable.

    TNM Technology Stream

    * IST 553 Information Architecture for Internet Services
    * IST 600 Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
    * IST 634 Security in Networked Environments
    * IST 657 Basics of Information Retrieval Systems
    * IST 659 Database Administration Concepts and Database Management
    * IST 679 Electronic Commerce Technologies
    * IST 756 Advanced Networking
    * ELE 658 Data Networks, Design, and Performance
    * CIS 504 Introduction to C and C++
    * CIS Unix Programming
    * CIS Java Programming

    TNM Management Stream

    * IST 501 Research Techniques for Information Management
    * IST 552 Information Systems Analysis
    * IST 619 Applied Economics for Information Managers
    * IST 626 Business Information Resources and Strategic Intelligence
    * IST 673 Strategic Planning in an Information-Based Organization
    * IST 755 Information Resources

    TNM Industry and Policy Stream

    * IST 619 Applied Economics for Information Managers
    * IST 626 Business Information Resources and Strategic Intelligence
    * IST 678 Electronic Markets
    * IST 682 Telecommunication Policy and Regulation
    * IST 782 National and International Information Policies

    IV. Exit Requirement: 3 credit hours

    IST 754 is a capstone course and can only be taken after the completion of IST 601, 653, 614, 618 and 753 and at least 24 credits.

    IST 754 Final Project in Telecommunications Systems (capstone course).

    Price is no problem.

    I will look at that program, but it is doubtful they will take my degree if the University Of Denver University College and Keller graduate School would not take my degree.

    They only take Regionally acreddited degrees.

    Well, you never know unless you ask, right? The most they can do is say "no". What are they going to do, call the DL police on you?

    Here is one more suggestion from me: Strayer University. They have accepted NA credits in the past, and they have an online MSIS.

    Good luck, and let us know if you find the program you are looking for.

    Yea, the University of Denver already said no unfortunetly. I will send a letter to Keller soon as their degree really meets my needs, but they are very clear that you must have an RA degree for admission.

    I will check out Strayer and report back to this post.

    Area 3: Concentration
    Students must choose one of the following Area III Concentration Components to complete the Master of Science in Information Systems:

    Concentration in: Network Management
    CIS 505Communication Technologies
    CIS 513Enterprise Wireless Networks
    CIS 516Enterprise Network Management
    Concentration Total: 13.5 Credit Hours

    This definitely looks like an option. I am not crazy about the core classes (which is most of the degree), but beggers cannot be choosers sometimes. There are only 2 courses out of the 9 core classes that do not look like a subject that would torture me due to no interest though...

    It is an option, but I would like to see what other choices are out there.

    thanks so much guys, please keep them coming!

    Are these my only choices? If so, I think I am just going to go back and try and complete an RA bachelors. I do not think I can complete a Masters program with classes in subjects I am not very interested in. I would probably get bad grades! ;-)

    You could try Fort Hayes State University. I'm not sure about the NA bachelors, though. Their web sites says only that an "accredited" undegrad degree is required.
