There's a new joint UG + G program https://www.extension.harvard.edu/academics/bachelor-liberal-arts-degree/joint-undergraduate-graduate-program There's also new graduate majors in Development Practice, Bio engineering + Nanotechnology, and also Data Science https://www.extension.harvard.edu/academics/graduate-degrees
I think a lot of the people who hate on HES are the ones who paid a quarter of a million for their degrees at Harvard and are now wondering why someone was more clever than them and managed to get a degree from Harvard with classes taught largely by the same professors, for maybe 1/8 of the price. You know, there's book smart and there's street smart. Everyone at Harvard College has the first for sure and maybe the second, but everyone who manages to obtain a degree from HES has both for sure.
Preachin' to the choir! I derive great satisfaction, pride, and pleasure from finding clever ways to accomplish things - even mundane things, so it stands to reason that this would drift over into my education as well. I'm always excited when I happen upon an "easter egg" in real life. Of course, chance favors the prepared mind, so there's that. Millions of people aren't even looking.
Data Science Master's. From Harvard. Lower tuition rates. Sink-or-swim "open admissions " system. For the right student, these programs are almost too good to be true, except they're not. I honesty question the judgement of anyone who hates on this.
Absolutely. Harvard College cutthroat admissions are supposed to demonstrate students' aptitude sufficient for handling Harvard classes. Well, HES students showed that by, you know, successfully taking Harvard classes at Harvard standards. Only with smaller price tag. Expressions like "street smarts" come to mind.
