    What is Strategic Security?
“Security” should not be defined as a state of safety or threat level. In practice, such ratings tell you little or nothing about how secure you are. Rather, we define “security” as an activity; as ongoing behaviors designed to forestall reasonable or probable threats.

Although the global threat spectrum includes such diverse dangers as natural disaster, economic upheaval, environmental degradation, terrorism and other forms of violent extremism, crime, social upheavals, chronic political corruption, and so forth, it must be noted that these threats also apply on global, national, regional, and even personal levels.

“Strategic Security” is accurate, objective knowledge, obtained in a timely fashion and skillfully acted upon. The intellectual tools and tradecraft of intelligence, counterterrorism, and personal protection, properly applied, can provide the right information to the right policy makers or decision makers so that they may act in our collective best interests based upon the facts as they are seen at that moment.

The Meaning behind “ADVANCEMENT VIGILANCE ALLEGIANCE”

This is not just a slogan, it represents our core values.

ADVANCEMENT is about making futures for future protection. The opportunity for advancement is one of the most important personal freedoms. Institutions of higher learning such as Henley-Putnam University are among the best ways to achieve that advancement. For those courageous individuals devoted to making public service and national security their life’s mission, Henley-Putnam is the ideal, helping students advance their careers while training them to protect the very right to do so.

VIGILANCE is about gaining the knowledge that is the foundation of preparedness. The faculty at Henley-Putnam University trains their students to anticipate problems and to take affirmative steps to deal with them positively rather than reacting after a situation has already occurred. This not only helps them protect everyone’s freedom, it helps them succeed in life.

ALLEGIANCE is key, because all aspects of effective strategic security demand teamwork. Students at Henley-Putnam learn quickly to function as part of a group and gain a new sense of purpose as members of a lifelong community of like-minded individuals who are encouraged to collaborate. They learn to rely upon and command the competencies of those around them, confident that the group will support them in times of need.
