I have been pulling my hair out for the past week trying to decide which path to take. I would love some feedback from y'all because I am overwhelmed at this point.
    Here it goes:
I have my B.A. in Secondary Education/English Language Arts
Masters in Media and Library Science

Do I... Go ahead and go for the EdS in Library Science (a $4000.00/year raise)- which I am scheduled to begin next month. This degree will take 2 years. The school I will be attending does NOT offer an EdD degree.

OR- Do I go straight for the EdD degree in Educational Technology from Northcentral University which will take 3 years to complete.

OR do I find a school that would allow me to gain my EdS degree in route to my EdD. I am having a terrible time finding a regionally accredited, affordable, 100% online college that will allow that.

My ideal degree would be to go after the EdD in Library Media. Wouldn't you know, there is no such thing??

Thank you all so much for ANY feedback you can provide!!!

Is there any salary increase difference between the EdS and the EdD? Speaking of that, how much will the EdS and NCU EdD cost you out of pocket? One option would be to get the least expensive EdS that you can find, get the raise, then pick a reasonably priced EdD or PhD program. Also, how many more years working do you think you have until retirement? It might sound like a dumb question, but it can really help quantify the value of these degrees.

Yes, a 4000.00/year salary increase for EdS. Totally worth it!

I am devastated right now! I had a plan!!! I was going to attend American Education College online. CHEAP, Regionally accredited, and a clear path from EdS to EdD. Guess what?!?! Alabama is one of the 4 states in the nation that does NOT recognize any of the degrees from AEC. What in the world?!
NCU is double the price, but looks like it is my only option right now. They do not have a clear path from EdS to EdD.

IF you do not live in Alabama, Arizona, Iowa or DC, American Education College is the BEST BEST BEST online option!!!

I am throwing a hail mary here and hoping one of you has a brilliant idea for my future.

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

Are you certain that the salary increase is when you specifically earn an EdS, and not simply at the "Master's + 30 credits" level like in many systems? If it's the latter, then you should just do an EdD or PhD since you'd get the bump part way through once you'd earned 30 credits.

I just asked. I HAVE to specifically earn the EdS before getting the raise.

Any suggestions for the "least expensive EdS"? It must be regionally accredited.
    Thank you so much!!!

    Nope. But for what it's worth . . .

As you search for a program, you should also search under the term "CAGS," or "Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies."

It's the newer name for the Ed.S.

You can look for a CAGS, but first I would confirm that will meet your needs as well as an EdS. They're in the same "sixth year" academic tier, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're treated the same, particularly by a system that specifically requires an EdS rather than Master's + 30.

Thanks guys. I am looking into Liberty University again. I am not crazy about having to go to campus 3 times during my EdD, but I am starting to get frustrated. :)
