    Hi,

I've been a lurker here for a while. I discovered this site several years ago when I was investigating different DL schools. It's a great forum and I appreciate the hard work that people put in to help others.

Right now I'm almost finished with my Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. I currently work in IT for a state technical college in Georgia. We are going through a three college merger which will create the largest technical college in the state. It's been an interesting past few months.

Here's an article about the merger: http://team.georgia.gov/portal/site/GeorgiaStatement/menuitem.202115a834a974fcb2755310da1010a0/?vgnextoid=973f849eefbbd110VgnVCM100000bf01010aRCRD&vgnextchannel=5f0e3ccfae9c9110VgnVCM100000bf01010aRCRD

    Thanks again to everyone. :)

Hi Ian - Thanks for your participation. We have a lot of lurkers and I sometimes wish I could give them just the gentlest nudge to get them to post up. I'm glad you took the plunge. Have there been any leaks as to what they might call the new combined school?

Originally the intent was to choose a new name, but they decided to keep "Chattahoochee Technical College" as the name of the combined college.

Hey Ian! I just checked it out (OK, just the sports pages) and I've just got to say,

    GO HERONS!!!

    I especially loved this part,

    "Cross Country
All students are encouraged to participate in Cross Country. There are no tryouts and no experience is required. Practices begin in early August and conclude with the national meet in November. Practices are held near the Marietta campus. Meets begin in September and usually occur on Saturday mornings. Athletic scholarships are available.

    Track and Field
All students are welcome to participate in Track and Field. There are no tryouts and no experience is required. Practice begins in early January near the Marietta campus. The indoor season begins in early February and concludes with the national indoor meet in March. The outdoor season begins in late March and concludes with the national outdoor meet in May. Meets are usually held on Saturdays at various universities in metro Atlanta and across the southeast U.S. Scholarships are available."

I love that! Let's go out for a run! It's hard to do through distance learning though but it's a great philosophy for the school to adopt.
