I was visiting Charter Oak State College's website this afternoon and was suprised to find that they are offering a fair number of for-credit courses online. I didn't realize they were offering their own coursework; is this a relatively recent development?

I am an enrolled student at Excelsior, and completing the Written English requirement lies between me and my sheepskin. Excelsior will accept the COSC Power Writing course for this requirement.

Anyone have experience with this course? Would you recommend it to me?

    Thanks!

    Regards,

Yes I took it with Dr Sloane and I found it a very rewarding course. Interesting style of writing, I believe he is on sabbatical and they have another teaching it.

You will need to do a research project and write a report, save everything including all on line quizes for the final portfolio.

My class had a lot of good interaction on the class message board.

He asked us a question at one point and we began making up a story and each student would add to it. He said that was NOT what he expected but he was having so much fun reading our responses that he wanted us to keep going.

Dr. Sloane was very quick to respond both to the message board and to e-mails. I called him once and he picked up on the second ring!

Dr. Sloane had both a workbook (for when he presented at corporate meetings) and a video tape, these are optional but I found them very helpful. (they may not be available from the current instructor)

There is one mid term and a final exam that you will need to find a proctor for. I used the entire 2 hours both times. [IMG]

Thanks for the reply, Dan. It looks like a good course to me, and I plan on registering for the next session.

I appreciate hearing of your experiences.

    Tony,

I'm just curious, why don't you take Excelsior's English Composition exam?
