A new message has just appeared on the greenwich.edu website. Looks as though it may be some time before they are seriously back in business. Dr Anatidae
So the first thing you see at greenwich.edu is the heading, "Greenwich University Re-Opens" and the second thing you see is the message from President Pearson saying, in effect, well we're not quite open but we're in the process of refinancing and reorganizing, so "stay tuned for further announcements." I read this story recently: Norfolk's virtual uni banned By Patrick Lawnham October 11, 2002 http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,5842946%255E23004,00.html THE federal Government will ban Norfolk Island's virtual Greenwich University, overriding the island's territorial government and eliminating an international embarrassment for Australia. It is the first such move against a territory's laws since federal parliament voided the Northern Territory's law allowing voluntary euthanasia in 1997. The decision reflects the Government's concern at the global growth in unaccredited universities, including so-called "degree mills".
For about the third time now, If you do not like what I post then ignore it. If you feel the need to correct me then feel free to send me a PM. That would be the polite thing to do Uncle Janko.
Shun the fool A Persian Proverb He who knows not, And knows not that he knows not, Is a fool - shun him. He who knows not, And knows that he knows not, Is a child - teach him. He who knows, And knows not that he knows, Is asleep - wake him. He who knows, And knows that he knows, Is wise - follow him. Frankie has been added to my ignore list.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Very old news, as using the search function on this site would have revealed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I understand that you are enraged that I have dared to criticise your emperor. But please, cut the petty and childish posts...you only reflect negatively upon yourself. Frankie ________________________________________________ What our friend does not seem to realize is that this observation is common currency on degreeinfo when someone heralds as new news that which is well-known to anyone who reads and posts here regularly, and which could easily have been well-known to the herald had he or she made basic use of the search function. I am delighted that our friend has chosen to send me a private message. Since he/she merely repeats his public invective, I could see no reason not to share with you. As to his/her attempt to improve me, a wiser person would recognize that as impossible. Furthermore, Frankie has the mindreading ability to know when I am enraged, which means he/she can read very small print indeed. Finally, our friend has the maturity to refer endlessly to George W. Bush, of whom he/she does not approve, as my/our "emperor". This last, I must admit, is very old news, as using the search function on degreeinfo would reveal.
That is why I returned. Upon further "research" I realised that you were correct and I had overreacted and spouted off for reasons that I had assumed were true instead of actually being true. I do apologize for this, I was wrong. I was always told that making private messages public was rather an ungentlemanly thing to do but I suppose as beauty this is in the eye of the beholder. This is coming from the gentleman who has the mindreading ability to know when I am "upset?" "Frankie's upset because the US supports Israel and thus only "one side" in the Levant. He's also upset because of Israel's (in his estimation) bad human rights record." -Uncle Janko http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10633&pagenumber=2 Since we are both apparently mind readers possibly we could join JoJo's Psychic Alliance together...we could make a fortune Janko. He seems to be regarded as one by certain parties. When people criticise Jean Chretien I do not call them Frenchie, suggest that they are communists and laugh at them for simply doing so. I usually join in Again, I wish to apologize to the forum for my abrasive behaviour. Obviously I jumped before I looked.
My birth certificate and passport say that I am. Actually you good folks south of my border did try to prevent it from happening. However, General Brock took a stand and secured our future for us. Nice try though.
My apologies, not of all us are perfect intellectual elitists such as yourself oh mighty Janko. Not all of us here have numerous phD's while making a seven figure annual income like you do. I apologize if I offended you mighty one. Please try and tolerate my inferiority. So few can match your superior intellect. We are insects under your watchful eye. By the way, I love how welcome the veterans make the newcomers feel on degreeinfo. Where else can a person make a mistake or error and get chastised for it immediately? Hey, a free education is always welcome
My dearest Frankie: It does not take a lot of brain power to look to the left--you know, I could just stop there--and see where it says "Dennis Ruhl...Alberta, Canada". Dennis asked "how did we let that happen," and you made another snide remark about Americans. Even though a surprising proportion of your posts either denounce the USA or castigate your fellow posters, and have no relation to DL, you are no longer a newbie on this distance learning board. I do not care what your opinion is of me. To some people, though, your sarcastic post flaming the whole board might seem a bit of an overreaction to being told, subtly, that Dennis Ruhl is a Canadian. And he's a d*mn fine Canadian, too, may I say.
Please stop wasting bandwidth... C'mon guys, please stop the crap and take your bickering to private e-mail. Cheers, George
