I don't want to tangent too much off topic, but in the real world this simply is not true, there is a stigma about DL. No doubt about it.

I agree, but how many would actually take the time to do research about the origin of the degree. Do HR people would actually take the time to investigate if the degree was earned via DL? I have sent at least 3 times my DBA transcripts from USQ to different HR department of different schools and nobody has asked me if it was DL or not, they just took them and gave me the points according to their scale. It is simple, they see your degree and check in a book if the degree is accredited then they give you the credit for it. If you were looking for a tenure track faculty position that is a different story, you will be questioned about your supervisor, research, school, etc, and many details so in this case having a DL degree makes a big difference because you the origin of the degree might come out during the interview and if some of the interviewers are against DL then you are out.

True, but if your transcript is coming from a popular "online only" institution it may hold the stigma without even stating it. For example, if the transcript comes from TUI, not Touro, some may know and the stigma may hold. That was why I asked the question above about the transcript.

I graduated from the University of Tulsa, and I can't tell you how many people ask me "so you got it online, right?" Then they move to say online schools are not as good as B&M. I have gotten into many discussions on how the method in which the information is learned is not the issue, but accreditation and other factors.

Anyway, I know I am preaching to the Choir, but, if I had the choice, I would prefer not to have DL on my transcript. Also, as I have stated in previous threads, there used to be a policy with my educational reimbursement department stating if the class can be taken locally, online classes would not be accepted. This was changed this past year, but we can't be the only ones that are behind the times and going with old outdated policies. I think the saying of "That is how we have always done it" comes into play.

If TUI becomes as popular as the UoP or
AIU then I would say that HR and the rest of the world will know that you got it DL. I agree that a school should not "tag" a transcript as virtual or online, I have a friend that got his degree from a
top tier university but his degree reads "Virtual campus" and this really makes it look ugly.
However, in this case, the association with Touro college in NY can be a plus since TC is a respectable B&M college instead of having TUI alone. It just gives it more credibility since many people can relate with TC.

    Randell123456,

How long did it take to recieve your diploma and transcripts once you had completed all course requirements? I've heard 2 months--is that accurate? I'm enrolled in MGT599 and will be finished on or before 6 Dec 04.

    4Q out

6-8 weeks is about right. I had to call them several times to make sure they would send the transcipt and diploma.
