  1. Hey there members of degreeinfo!

I've seen the term "goatbag" fly around in reference to spurious providers of fake degrees. It is a funny name in and of itself, but I really have no idea what it means or what its origins are. Tried searching for it in "google" and "wikipedia", but found no references.

Anyone have a definition for the term??? ;) I want to make sure I'm using it in proper context should I choose to hop on the "goatbag" bandwagon....

    neologism

It's an entirely made-up word, with a feeling of crassness that is more appropriate for that which it describes than the neutral adjective "unwonderful."

It is a noun, describing the class of degree-granting entities that includes the very, very defunct St. Regis "University" and its kith and kin.

So would a trivial, unimportant goatbag be a goatbagatelle?

Ohgod... that made me laugh out loud. :p

George, didn't you once give a somewhat more detailed explanation of the true origin of your term "goatbag" around here a while back? Or am I just imagining it? If not, could you share again? Either that, or point us to the post where you did?

If it were an all-female mill: goatbaguette
If it were in the Philippines: goatbaguio
If it were in Iraq (aka New Texas): goatbaghdad

Should a goatbag be handled with kid gloves? I think not.

    different word

I think you're remembering "Dogcloset," coined by a friend's young children as a name to give to one of their cats. I like that one too. I believe I used the phrase "fine young dogcloset of a goatbag" once to refer to a new unwonderfu; school.

So why, you might ask? Well, we have the operators of [put the D word here] pretending to be peope/organizations that they aren't, and threatening to sue people who post factual information about their enterprises. This is a nuisance, even when the threats come from a thoroughly warped monkeypants with more doctoral degrees than he has limbs and who also claims to hold cosmonaut medals &c.

Even a twisted pretzelnose like that may think twice about contacting a lawyer over his latest venture being called a dogcloset.

    The following is not a definition, but;

    Imagine yourself:

on a small grassy hilltop in northern Mexico......
or in the Haitian plains ......
or in the Venezuelan highlands ......
or in the leather-producing farms in Kenya ....
or in a Timberland factory in Missouri .....
or better yet, in the goat-begotten trash dumps of Serbogia ....
or in Dixie Randocks' in-home petting goat zoo .....

Now, try imagining the goat in a bag slung over the shoulder of a would-be mill-shll, a mill apologist, a scammer-in-training, an ethics-challenged con-artist supreme, a liar, a maestro of DL deceit.

Now, imagine the sweet aura of the fresh air all around you.

    Or ......

the stench, the stench, the stench..... of that live goat in a bag.

Is it true, what they say, that one is apt to find an off-shore-based (or perchance, a US Red State-based P.O. Box?) diploma mill in a filthy goat barn??

Goat bag in a goat barn. Figures!

    :)

    Thanks.
