I came across this online program, tuition 6600 a year, and wondered whether it would be a fit for a relative with a minor in CS, new college grad, wanting to expand skills for the job market in tech and coding and industry hiring needs. They are apparently opening up applications again. They say they evaluate applications on a case by case basis, so they do not necessarily require a BS. Comp.Sci.

Have any of you enrolled in this program, and if so, what is your opinion of the quality and content?

I also wondered whether this degree would be more useful for job prospects than the heavily advertised Udacity nanodegrees which I posted about last week, and so far we do not have any information about how many applicants got in or whether everyone has been notified.

Yes, I expect that a degree from Georgia Tech would be profoundly more useful for employment than a "nanodegree" from some company.

Just keep in mind that this is a a little more towards a competitive program. At first there were only 100 spaces for students. I don't know if that has changed or not.

They were looking for people with a CS undergrad degree and a 3.0 undergrad GPA, recommendations letters, and a personal essay. I don't know where you would stand with this but it's best to keep that in mind.

Other than that this MS CS is an unbelievable bargain from an outstanding technology school. I haven't applied because I don't have a CS or similar degree. I'm thinking of trying to finish a math degree and use my half dozen computer courses to apply.

Here are some of the main fees:

    $50 – One-time application fee
$301 – Per academic term of enrollment ($194 institutional fee + $107 technology fee)
$402 – Tuition Fee (for one 3 credit course). Tuition is $134 per credit hour and an average course is 3 credit hours.

If you can take a full load (or if they offer it) it is a superb value at about $500 per course.

    Thanks to all responders!

Thank you very much, addison, cookderosa, and SteveFoerster, for your posts. The information was helpful, and I will pass it on to my relative. I think the program is worth researching further.
