All, A few months ago, I posted a question regarding the feasibility of transitioning from an MBA to an EdD/PhD in higher education. I've spent the last few months scouring the web looking for online programs that will help me achieve my goals. I've seen an increase in the number of education doctoral programs offered online, but I think the bigger issue I have deals with "word usage". I'm looking for a program in higher education (college/community college leadership), but I keep getting routed to K-12 listings. Does anyone have any suggestions for a hybrid/online program in higher education (non-principal or superintendent route)? Thanks,
Maybe this one... and it's in your "neck of the woods." New Mexico State Univ Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction http://vrc.nmsu.edu/distance/degrees/details.cfm?id=20 It's an online program with summer week-long residencies. The website is dated. From this thread: http://www.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?t=27662
Rodney, I'm not sure if this program will fit your need, but Mississippi State has a program in Community College leadership: PHD CCL best wishes for your search,
I am currently enrolled in an Ed.D program at Capella University. The link is here: http://www.capella.edu/schools_programs/education/edd/education_leadership_mgmt.aspx The program can be used for K to 12 and higher education, in fact many in my cohort came from private sector or from universities.
A very august member of this very discussion board, once certain good Dr. Richard Coleman Douglas, transitioned from an MBA (National University, 1985) to a PhD in Higher Education (Union Institute & University, 2003). Union Institute & University www.myunion.edu now offers the EdD in Higher Education.
The following motley collection of universities offer the PhD/EdD in Higher Education/Community College Leadership either online or via short residency. Hopefully, something from amongst this array might suit your needs. University of Alabama www.ua.edu Argosy University www.argosy.edu Benedictine University www.ben.edu Capella University www.capella.edu Colorado State University www.colostate.edu Fielding Graduate University www.fielding.edu University of Florida www.ufl.edu George Fox University www.georgefox.edu Grand Canyon University www.gcu.edu Mississippi State University www.msstate.edu University of Nebraska Lincoln www.unl.edu Northcentral University www.ncu.edu University of North Dakota www.und.edu Northeastern University www.northeastern.edu Nova Southeastern University www.nova.edu Old Dominion University www.odu.edu Oral Roberts University www.oru.edu University of Pennsylvania www.upenn.edu University of Phoenix www.phoenix.edu Regent University www.regent.edu TUI University www.tuiu.edu Union Institute & University www.myunion.edu Walden University www.waldenu.edu
Keiser University has a Phd in Educational Leadership, not sure if its available hybridly or online: http://www.keiseruniversity.edu/graduateschool/phded.php
I did not know that Keiser University was "capable" of awarding doctoral degrees. Are they regionally accredited? Thanks,
They seems to be Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges Accredited * 07/01/1991 -
