I've heard that BMW has a lesser reputation in Germany than it does here.

Volvo originated as a Swedish automobile manufacturer but today it is a subsidiary of a Chinese automotive manufacturer called Zhejiang Geely. They also own Lotus and are the manufacturer of those iconic black London taxis.

Didn't know Geely, manufacturers of mopeds and the Beauty Leopard, had bought Volvo. Not good automotive news, as I see it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geely_BL https://jalopnik.com/5220295/5220295/10-geely-beauty-leopard

There used to be an Internet site called geely-sucks-dot-com, full of US consumer complaints about Geely imported mopeds. Gone now - dead as those mopeds, I guess. Years ago, I think Geely had plans to export sub-$10,000 cars to the US. I think the plan was scrapped because they couldn't meet the safety standards - not sure.

S and speaking of various car companies and who owns who and where they have plants:

    (1) When did Chysler Comporation morph into Daimler Chrysler and then morph into Chrysler LLC and then morph into Fiat Chrysler?

(2)Doesn't Toyota have a plant in Tennessee?

I'll take question 2 for $100, Alex (and Ted.)

Question 2 - No, Ted. But they do have plants in Mississippi, Texas, Kentucky, Indiana, Alabama and West Virginia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Toyota_manufacturing_facilities#United_States

You may be thinking of Nissan. They have a plant in Smyrna, TN.

Question 1 - 1998 Merger with Daimler Benz. Then Jan 1, 2014 Fiat made the purchase. The LLC? From the Wiki - "Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) US LLC (commonly known as Chrysler; /ˈkraɪslər/) is the American subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V., an Italian-American automobile manufacturer registered in the Netherlands with headquarters in London, U.K., for tax purposes" (emphasis mine - J.) So -- instead of Dodges, we now have Tax Dodges. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler

By the way, the merger with Chrysler was a disaster for the parent company of Mercedes. It almost killed Mercedes as an independent car company. Today, German business schools use it as a case study for how not to merge two companies,
Do you know who this year in February became the largest single shareholder of Mercedes (with only 9.7 percent of shares, however)? A Chinese company called Geely.

And Volvo is in trouble these days. A few days ago it was in the news that their profit margin is down to just 3.2 percent.

I'm in Germany, and that's true. The reputation isn't much worse, however. Most BMWs, with the exception of very high-end luxury cars, are seen as normal domestic cars. The quality is really good, but it is nothing that special. Unless, of course, you're a hardcore Mercedes fan. In that case, a BMW is a trash. (Almost as bad as a VW.)
That will be difficult. There are only 10 ACCSB accredited business schools in Germany, and none of them offers a genuine (100 percent) online degree.

LOL, I think that degree will only work for you if you can also prove that Kim Jong Un wants you dead!

In that case, even your high school diploma may be important for the evaluation. Some European countries with 3 year Bachelor's degrees also have a K-13 school system.

I'm happy with my 11 years + old Kia.
Never had any issues. maintenance and obviously tires etc needed to be changed.
Original brake pads lasted 5 years 60+K miles.
Someone told me that KIA cars were redesigned by German Engineers in 2007 or something like that.
    It runs on Kimchi :)

Well, KIA is a subsidiary of Hyundai, and Hyundai has a large engineering and design center in Rüsselsheim, Germany. That center is mainly for the European market, but quite a few Korean cars, even in Korea itself, include some German engineering work today. That is especially true for the engines.

Speaking of Chrysler again, the Chrysler Corporation was founded in 1925 by Walter Percy Chrysler. Dodge Brothers was founded in 1924 and bought by Chrysler in 1 928. Plymouth was founded by Chrysler in 1928. Then American Motors was founded (in what year?) and they eventually bought Jeep (in what year?) and then Chrysler bought AMC (in what year?) Does Chrysler still own Jeep?

I have a Volvo XC60 (inherited) that I just completed a 10 state, 2600 mile trip with. I have never been a big Volvo fan but this trip made a believer out of me. Especially while driving through the mountains of Tennessee. In checking out Volvo further, I found out that mine was actually made in Sweden vs. Belgium or
China. According to my mechanic the Swedish workers take greater pains to make sure the manufacturing process is more thorough and exact. He said that all the workers on the assembly line change up assignments every month, after thorough training on the new piece or part, and supposedly feel more invested in the car making process.

Hmm. Interesting. How did a thread that is ostensibly about foreign degree equivalencies get transmogrified into a thread about which car companies own which other car companies?
