Anyone has some opinions about Florida Institute of Technology. Is it good / bad ? How to find out whether they are RA ? Thanks
You can usually learn about accreditation from a school's own website. Sometimes it takes some poking around; I went to the site map and then used Search to find this at http://www.fit.edu/ugrad/tranGenQuest.html#accreditation You can also go to the websites of regional associations. The Southern Association has a search page at http://www.sacscoc.org/search.asp And yes, the Southern Association is one of the regional accrediting associations recognized by the US Department of Education. Looks as if FIT has a few programs that "combine the benefits of a traditional classroom environment with the convenience of an online setting" -- see http://ec.fit.edu/cdl/programs/index.html
I am quite familiar with FIT (aka Florida Tech). It is a very viable technical university. Their distance MBA program was recently rated very highly in a national ranking by U.S. News and World Report. They are primarily an engineering, science, CS, aerospace, and business/management school (and have a decent psychology school). Be careful when looking at http://segs.fit.edu/academics/degrees/index.html because most of the non-business/management programs are not offered via distance learning (the "*" warns of this); these are only offered at remote ("extended") campuses. Because of FIT's proximity to NASA and many defense contractors, they have a lot of programs that appeal to those industries, such as program management. In recognition of this (if I'm not mistaken) the recently redesignated their business school as a management school. They're a little pricey.
