Finland is offering free vacations for people to come and learn how to be happy after being named the happiest country in the world https://www.yahoo.com/news/finland-offering-free-vacations-people-164337711.html
There's something VERY hinky in all these reports of happy Finns. I knew that 20-30 years ago there was a high incidence of depression in Finland, so I looked further. There still is! A VERY high incidence. Finland has the highest incidence of mental disorders in the EU. About 1 in 5 Finns suffer from a mental disorder at some time or another - and the most frequent are anxiety and depression. Are many Finns bipolar or something? Do the same people occupy a space at both ends of the mental wellness spectrum. "Finland has the highest estimated incidence of mental disorders in the EU (close to one in five) (OECD 2020). The most common mental disorders, anxiety, and depression, affect above 7% of Finns. While these can affect people for a couple of weeks or months, they can also last a lifetime." Whole thing here: https://www.oecd-ilibrary.org/sites/7d8fd88e-en/index.html?itemId=/content/paper/7d8fd88e-en They need to cut the advertising crap, skip the holiday huckstering and tell us the truth. Who came up with this happiness stuff - Is there a Helsinki branch of Fox News?
