Well, I got my unofficial grade from the instructor today. I got an "A" in my last course for completion of the MAT w/o Cert from UWA. I also passed my Comps last month, so everything should be in order. Now I am just waiting on the official word and a copy of my transcripts.

I have already started applying for adjunct jobs, but sure wish they would hurry up with the transcripts. It would make it alot easier...

While your Comps will not be the same as mine, I have to say that it was probably one of the toughest tests I have ever taken to this point.

But, if you know your material, you will do fine. Some departments have a study guide, mine did not.

    Adjunct work

I hope you have better luck than I had in looking for adjunct work. I have applied to 10 colleges/universities seeking online teaching positions with no success. I hold two master's degrees and I am mid-way to my Doctorate at NCU. I have 34 years experience in law enforcement. I am beginning to think there is actual age discrimination in higher education. Initially, there seems to be a great amount of interest but eventually the final response is the same - we'll call you, don't call me!

Have you visited the yahoo groups for online adjuncts? Listening to them, 10 is a small number of places to apply. Many have stated that it took them several months to a year before getting their first opportunity, but then it got easier, usually. I have personally applied to dozens upon dozens of schools, and have heard back from a few. Some very interested. Some to say no thanks. I was almost hired over the telephone for one university, but then I realized it was for an onsite class - in Florida - and I live in Virginia. So they are out there, I haven't found one yet, either, but they are out there. It just takes persistence, it seems.

Honestly, I love the idea of being Dr Clint, but I don't think that I am up for the actual work involved in getting that title. At least not right now.

But then again, I will probably get the school bug again, before long so we shall see. But no plans are in the works.

That and I have no money anymore...all went for the Masters....

    :)

If you get a regionally accredited doctorate, then I speculate that your employment opportunities for online teaching will be like the parting of the Red Sea.
