That is annoying. The NoScript extension defeats this, though. And one can always get it from the source code.
The website for Mahamaya Technical University looks like a grade-schooler created it with one of the old Geocities platforms. Nothing says "legitimate" about a school more than everyone/everything having a GMail email address!
Based on the name, my guess is that it's a way for religious people to cosplay as physicians—faith healing, Islam edition.
A tidbit at the end of the article is a reference to this: National Academic Depository (NAD) it looks like a National Students Clearinghouse-type site, except that like Parchment you can scan a QR code to open one of the entries. Pretty neat.
