Well, I contacted Excelsior directly with some important questions for me but, as was to be expected, I didn't get the appropriate replies, saying things like "The Written English and Information Literacy will both be reviewed upon enrollment".

So just in case somone can help me here, here are my questions:

Hi, I am planning on enrolling for an Associates in Business in the coming months. Some questions:

    1) Written English Requirement:
Does the following course fulfill this requirement: Louisiana State University English Composition 1001. It’s an Independent Study 3 credit course. The link to description is:
    http://is.lsu.edu/coursefactsheet.asp?nid=301&Rubric=ENGL&CourseNr=1001

    2) Information Literacy Requirement:
Does the following fulfill?: Library Research Methods and Materials. 1 credit course, same University as above. Link:
    http://is.lsu.edu/coursefactsheet.asp?nid=301&Rubric=LIS&CourseNr=1001

    3) CLEP College Math:
I know it doesn’t fulfill the "Math at the level of precalculus or above" requirement, but does one get ANY credits at all for this exam in the Arts and Sciences Component of the Degree?

    4) CLEP English Composition:
I know it doesn’t fulfill the "Written English Requirement" but does one get ANY credits at all for it in the Arts and Sciences Component of the Degree?

Since I am dangerously juggling with the two main components that are necessary for me to get this degree I appreciate anyones help here.
The two components I'm talking about: TIME (I am free to study full time now but time is running out soon and once I begin working I just don't know if I will have to postpone completion yet once again for several years (I started in 1997 you see, I know what can happen from previous experience with this matter). The other component is MONEY, which without working obviously is increasingly scarce, especially taking into account yet two more travels to foreign countries to take exams with their respective HOTELS and AIR TICKETS. I don't expect Excelsior or anyone else to bear with my problems, but really I just wish they'd realize whata terrible pressure it is for some of us to do this taking into account we are forced to make expensive trips to other countries to take our exams...

I know how you feel, Excelsior does not want to provide much answers until you enroll. I have enrolled in the BS in Business but I have not paid my fee yet.

    3) CLEP College Math:
I know it doesn’t fulfill the "Math at the level of precalculus or above" requirement, but does one get ANY credits at all for this exam in the Arts and Sciences Component of the Degree?

    Cannot answer that question

Thanks guys. I was unable to connect to the forum for a few days, guess there were some problems.
meantime just today I received another reply from Excelsior. since I am a "former" student (was enrolled back in 1997 or so) they have replied to all my questions.

    Written English Requirement:
Does the following course fulfill this requirement: Louisiana State University English Composition 1001. It’s an Independent Study 3 credit course. The link to description is:
    http://is.lsu.edu/coursefactsheet.a...L&CourseNr=1001
    YES

    2) Information Literacy Requirement:
Does the following fulfill?: Library Research Methods and Materials. 1 credit course, same University as above. Link:
    http://is.lsu.edu/coursefactsheet.a...S&CourseNr=1001
    YES

    3) CLEP College Math:
I know it doesn’t fulfill the "Math at the level of precalculus or above" requirement, but does one get ANY credits at all for this exam in the Arts and Sciences Component of the Degree?
    YES

    4) CLEP English Composition:
I know it doesn’t fulfill the "Written English Requirement" but does one get ANY credits at all for it in the Arts and Sciences Component of the Degree?

I THINK I'LL GET 3 CREDITS FOR THIS ONE, IN HUMANITIES AS THERE IS A 6 CREDIT CAP ON ENGLISH COMPOSITION (so 3 will be from the LSU English composition and 3 from the Clep one)

    Things are looking better now!

    COMING UP NEXT WEEK:
CLEPS examinations: Accounting and Business Law (9 credits total)

    Later, 25th june in Geneva:
CLEPS: Intro computers, Algebra, Principles of Management

    After that:
LSU English composition and information literacy...and perhaps I think i may be ready to get my Associates in Business...

Problems: Getting a Proctor here in Madrid during the summer for those last courses...(American Universities closing till september).

here's another Independent Study composition course that Excelsior will accept

    http://coned.colostate-pueblo.edu/indstdy/eng/eng101.asp

and here's an information literacy course

    http://sln.suny.edu/sln/public/slncatalog.nsf/668826d5884fc6af85256fb60046f752/0b1be87a3a658a1785256f9d00648c9f?OpenDocument

the info course is an online course from the State University of New York college system

Oh well contacted colostate-pueblo about ehri English composition course. it does not have exams BUT it as a pre-requisite to taking the course:

    quote
Hello. There are no exams for the course. However, you must show where
you've taken a lower level English course (098 or 099), or submit recent
ACT/SAT scores (from within last 5 years), or take an Accuplacer exam
prior to registering for the course
    unquote

So obviously it doesn't help in not needing a proctor for me anyway so probably will stick to LSU's
