Excelsior not allowing papers to be removed from Turnitin

  1. Turnitin uses students' papers without paying for them. I know that they won the lawsuit, but they're still ethically wrong. In their terms of service, there is the ability to have your papers removed from their database by the school's network administrator. Often the professor will do this if he has advance notice.

Excelsior just sent a rather curt note that they won't be removing papers. I'll be taking it up the chain because it does matter to me. I don't want something being quoted thirty years from now nor do I want my work used without compensation.

If I had it to do again (they instituted Turnitin AFTER I paid), it would be enough to have me switch to TESC. It's unethical and speaks volumes about the school.

Anyone else have experience getting theirs removed?
