I was thinking about taking Excelsior's
    Database Management Systems
    online course

just checked and found it its $ 1005.00 not counting books

    wow !

that's for 3 upper level undergrad credits

that seems like an awful lot of money for a school that has zero classroms.
Yeah, I know they still have expenses, but it still seems like a lot of money

One reason I never took a course from Excelsior, and never will :p

My local community college offers a similar online course for only $88 a credit hour ($264 total). Unfortunately that is only for the local rate; the out-of-state rate is $299 per credit hour. Maybe you have a school in your area that offers something similar?

that is madness! No. Ec, you may not take nearly 10% of my annual budget.

Wow. I took that course back in '06 and want to say it was $7-800 then... that was with tuition reimbursement. Needless to say I would seek out a less costly alternative, and if it's got to be UL and you've established residency, look at enrolling as a non-degree seeking student at your local U.

Are you enrolled? I think it's less if you are. Less still via a partnership program -- I paid $750 ea. for my two current courses.

I took DB at Chadron State College in 2009 and paid $505. I liked Chadron. This for a 300-level course; had I wanted a lower-level course my local CC would have been ~$280.

really ? because I am enrolled
I guess I'll have to contact an academic advisor and find out if its cheaper
    and what's a partnership program ?
Is that being enrolled at a different university but using Excelsior to fulfill at requirement at the other school ?

I'll also check out Chadron and see if they still offer that course online.
Was that course Access based ? Oracle based ? or MySQL based ?

    Thanks for the info !
