Has anyone done the payment plan option at Excelsior College? Their web site says you can split the enrollment fee into four equal payments. Does this also include their annual fee? I plan on enrolling this month and I'm just trying to figure out how much to send them.

If I read their site correctly, I should be able to get the veteran's rate, which makes the enrollment fee and annual fee a total of about $1,200. Not bad!

If they work for you, EC's partnership programs are a favorable way to reduce the cost on an Excelsior degree. Membership in certain organizations makes you eligible for reduced fees. The trade-off is you have to take a minimum number of credits via Excelsior. This can work to your advantage depending on your circumstances.

I took advantage of this by joining the Peace Officers Assn of Georgia for $20. I am not a peace officer, they didn't check. I do work in fraud detection, and flashing the membership card is sort of fun :) I could have joined IEEE and got the same deal. Enrollment Fee $150, Graduation Fee, $150. Discounted tuition. What makes this work for me is I have tuition reimbursement through my employer. Since I'm a business major, I have to take one course through EC anyway, plus I had to take Mgt Accounting somewhere (no exam available); to me, then, the marginal drawback of this program is I have to take two classes I would otherwise have tested out of. EC's classes are decent; I was able to find two that add something to my education I wouldn't necessarily have got by taking exams.

If you don't take the minimum credits, you pay the difference later when you're ready to graduate. Some students use this as a low-cost way to defer payment.

    Terry,

I did the enrollment fee in 3 payments from Nov - Jan this year. The multi source credit enrollment fee includes the first year annual fee so as long as you finish up everything before your anniversary date of first enrollment you don't have to pay anything else.... except of course the graduation fee! Good luck with Excelsior, they helped me tremendously!

Thanks for the feedback! I'm paying for everything out of pocket, so I'll be doing the multi-source payment plan.

The partnership discounts sound interesting. Does anyone know if Excelsior lists these on their site? I didn't see such a list, although I wasn't really planning on taking any Excelsior courses.
