    Hi,

I know some degree info members are always looking for cheaper options to do a PhD. We have discussed SA degrees quite a lot but I wanted to bring to your attention an Hungarian PhD given in English that can be completed by DL. Although not advertised as a DL degree, I came across a coworker that is doing this degree with the intention to qualify to teach in a business area as an adjunct and he explained that the degree can be completed in distance format. The degree is quite affordable and seems to be from an accredited Hungarian school.

RFVAlve - this is a great find at US $16262.50 for a doctoral program (to be paid in four installments of 4K). The University of Pecs program consists of two (preferably overlapping) parts: (a) the period of organized study (4 semesters) and (b) the independent research phase.

Excellent find! U of Pecs is Hungary's oldest university (established in the 1300's). And the program is offered in English, too!

A Ph.D. should be more than a degree program. It really creates (or should) a relationship between you and the school. I realize this isn't true at some degree factories, but for the most part, it is. That said, one would have to ask what relationship would one have with this one, particularly after graduating? Are you part of the fabric, or did you just earn your degree? I would want to know them, have them know me, and have an idea what that meant for the future before I did a doctorate there (or anywhere).

I think the price tag is great and the school seems to be credible. Of course we can argue all the cons of a foreign school for use in the US but I think is a good option for those looking just to add a credible credential to their resume and be able to teach on the side in the future.

Indeed, considering they've been around since the fourteenth century, it would be tough to argue they're not for real.
