It is traditionally true that more "illegal" aliens come from overstays of legal entry than from entering the country illegally. But.... Those people are, typically, acceptable to White supremacists. Ironically, it's the over-stays who take American jobs, not migrants. Which is why it's easy to ascribe to racism the objections people have to undocumented migrants. It's never about that.
My view is that there is not enough planning and action taken to address and absorb the mass migration. Border town Americans suffer the most. Some Border states and cities took the liberty to share the burden with sanctuary cities. Now if there was an office of migrant absorption on a sufficient level with budget to facilitate properly the process, this could have been beneficial to all.
