Hi Everyone, I will be graduating in mid-June with a business management degree from UOP. I have worked at a private school (Grades K4-8)for the last 18 years as a P.E. coach and a Spanish teacher. I am looking at persuing a Masters in education, but I would like to do it somewhere else other than UOP. I would like a school that will allow me to do it in about one, to one and a half years, and more affordable than UOP. I have contacted Troy State, which their masters may not work for me, and Walden University. Any suggestions on other schools, or input on Walden? Thanks, Aldo
Hi Aldo, What field of education are you interested in? This could have a bearing on choice of schools. Have you searched the DegreeInfo database yet for other schools besides Troy and Walden? There are quite a lot out there. I'd also recommend going through the Bear's Guide, as well, before narrowing your choice down. See what all is out there.
Unless you have the time to do that master's degree full-time, I think it will likely end up taking you longer than 1-1.5 years. Doesn't mean don't do it, just be prepared for 2-3 years on a part-time basis. Peter
Bears' Guide to the Best Education Degrees by Distance Learning has a large section on masters degrees in education. There are a myriad of masters degrees available. You should be able to find a good program for less than Phoenix. Most will take 1.5-2 years. Tony Pina Faculty, Cal State U. San Bernardino
Master's in Education Besides the other good resources mentioned, check out the e-learning section of US News. At www.usnews.com look in Education and then e-learning. There is quite a list on online MEd/MSED/MAED programs. Most of them are in the Educ Tech area but there are other concentrations.
