My wife is interested in the Private eye program being offered by Education Direct. Does anyone have any experience with this program?

    thanks!

It's fine... very similar to PCDI's program... and both are DETC accredited. Personally, I'd go with PCDI's, but that's just me.

A word to the wise: Check with your state first. Private investigators are regulated in most states. There may be a prescribed educational requirement. There will almost certainly be an experiential requirement. Do not move forward until you've read your state's statutues and/or regulations regarding private investigators.

Good advice from DesElms, as always.

Anytime you are considering taking a course for a job which has state licensing requirements, (private eye, nurse, teacher, etc.) it is always a good idea to check with that state's licensing board about any educational/accreditation requirements. You can check your state's requirements here:

Just in case they don't cover it in either course.....

When conducting static surveillance for any length of time, make sure you pay a visit to the local police department precinct, show them a copy of your PI license, tell them where you're going to be, & the year, make, model, and license plate number of your vehicle. It will save you the embarrassment of the local boys in blue paying you a visit when someone calls about the suspicious person with a video camera, thereby blowing your cover. :D

I attended the paralegal program at Ed Direct. I had a good experience with the program. The only thing that bothers me is I have noticed in the past month or so, tuition for California residents is much higher. I called student services and they stated it was because California had higher standards? They hesitatated to elaborate further. At first, I thought it was the paralegal program. Looking at their web site it looks like they are socking it to Calif students in all/most programs.
