    Hi All,

I am currently taking MTH/208 (college algebra) @ UOP to finish up my degree, needless to say, the class is ridiculous. It is 5 weeks, and moving way to fast for me to grasp anything. Thank god they are planning on making the general educaiton courses 8 weeks with no group work, I now see why students complain about them. I noticed that UOP will take any math class as credit as long as it's 100 level or higher (no remedial course).

I am looking for a cheap, regionally accredited (for ease of transfer), 3 semester hour (no less) math class that I can take and transfer into UOP so I can finish my degree on time. I am at my wits end considering I already failed the college mathematics CLEP by one point. Thanks!

That's what I'd suggest, too. Can I ask how you prepared for it the last time? Or if there were any problems that seemed to come from nowhere?

That exam has a couple of areas that are not obscure but maybe a little off to one side. They account for a sizeable chunk of the test, but they are small in compass. If you got that close without them, you should be able to pass after much less effort than taking even an easy math course.

I would retake the math CLEP, but college board has the 6 month waiting rule, and I am not willing to wait that long nor could I even come close to passing calculus or trig.

I am just fishing at this point, it's just irritating that I am 6 credits away from finishing, and they just happen to be math.

I took MTH 208 and 209 from UoP and I hated it. My advice is find a tutor to help you and struggle through it. The teachers didn't seem to grade too hard anyway. I came away with an A- when I'm sure my work was barely above a C-. My tutor and I worked through many of my assignments together. I learned and got my homework done too.

Wish you the best of luck!

Will UoP accept the DANTES Fundamentals of College Algebra exam?

They do accept the dantes exam, but i'll wait on that.

I just finished the final for MTH/208, so we will see how my grade turns out. I know there is no way in hell i'm getting an A-, the GW class i'm in put me way behind.
