    The new 2002-2003 LBU catalog states that LBU now offers a M.Ed. in conjunction with ACCS, which will assist LBU students in receiving teacher certification with ACSI. The format is:

    18 hours through LBU
    Final 18 hours through ACCS
    All courses administered by LBU

    What is ACSI?

    What is ACSI? I would expect teachers to be certified by a state, unless teaching in a private or church school.

    In response to Ashton, ACSI is a well respected accreditor of Christian schools (Early Childhood thru High School) and issues its own teacher/Superint/etc credentials.

    Question for Russell, do you have the specific link for the program as I could not locate it.

    North,

    I couldn't locate it either. The new LBU catalog (2002-2003) just came out, so apparantly it hasn't been placed on the website yet. I have e-mailed both LBU and ACCS regarding the program.

    How will this reflect on ACCS? LBU is not accredited, so why would ACCS want to enter a joint program with them? I must say this causes some hesitation I had considered enrolling at ACCS in the masters program.

    I spoke with Dr. Mitch Bevell (Ph.D., Univ of Colorado) of ACCS yesterday and addressed this very issue. Dr. Bevell stated that ACCS has had a long standing relationship with LBU, and while not regionally accredited, LBU has a substantive solid program of study. The dual M.Ed. is awarded by ACCS.

    He also stated that the University of Oklahoma now accepts ACCS credits for transfer into the UO degree programs, this due to their TRACS accreditation.

    LBU is approved by the BBFI (www.bbfi.org) for the education of its 4000+ US churches (ministers & laity), and is in a joint program with a TRACS school which allows LBU grads to be certified by ACSI (www.acsi.org).
