More and more colleges are moving away from the SAT/ACT and basing admissions on other criteria. I'm glad to see this. I have long been opposed to entrance exams for the simple reason that some students can afford to hire pricey tutors to help them earn much higher scores, like those who hire "America's top SAT tutor" who charges $1,000 per hour for his services. Dramatic score increases on these exams can be realized after a few months of tutoring. This puts poor students at a great disadvantage and admissions decisions are essentially made on the factor of who can afford the best tutors.

As a former high school teacher, I can tell you that doing well on the SAT doesn't guarantee a person will do well in college, and furthermore, doing poorly on the SAT doesn't mean the student will do poorly in college. I think this is a good move. We've become too much of a testing testing testing nation, in my opinion, so it's good to see more and more schools moving away from it. I believe I read that some law schools were actually dropping the LSAT as a requirement, too.
