Final point and a word of advice:

You are better off doing a Canadian LLB if this is at all possible. The distance learning route is a lot of work and a lot of time with a very uncertain outcome. Having said that I enjoyed the study of law for its own sake, but still, if you want to become a lawyer this is a very difficult way to achieve that.

novemberdude - I do wonder whether you, given your degrees and knowledge (particularly LLB and LLM), could/would challenge the NCA ? Recalling the chap in the US who went to court and won the right to sit for the bar exam in MA (if memory serves correct - he had his LLB from a Cali DL school and was admitted to the Cali bar)....

Have you given that any thought? I'd think that with abstract thinking and thinking outside of the proverbial box that this would be a challenge worth taking on...

    Thoughts?

I really have no idea about the prospects for success of a court challenge. Frankly it is not something that I am overly interested in doing. While I would be happy if someone else did it, I am not really willing to take this on myself.

While I don't agree with the NCAs methodology or their view on distance learning degrees, I'm not the person who is going to take them on.

Thanks Novemberdude for great advice .
I cannot afford to go to Canadian Law School Money/Time / LSAT / Health issues. Just Checked with UOL they don't mention Distance Learning on there Degree but then NCA is not naive ,only option I think is to start with UOL and then may be go for LLM route or may be something else comes out by the time this is done in few years from now.
Second question is I have BA Hons degree ,should I go for Graduate Route A or B with 9 Subjects-2 Yrs or Scheme A- 12 Subjects -3 Yrs.

Structure and Syllabus - LLB and Diploma in Law - External System (Intercollegiate) - University of London (Structure and Syllabus - LLB and Diploma in Law - External System (Intercollegiate) - University of London)

Thanks Again For Quick Reply and BOL for Your Future Endeavours.

The point you make regarding the NCA not being naive is a good one. However, the question is not does the degree mention distance learning, the question is does the transcript mention distance learning. The UoL transcript does not. The envelope it comes in does state that it is the UoL External Programme mind you. As you say the NCA is not naive. What I would do, and I prefer to think of this as being practical rather than dishonest, is survey all the Aussie schools that offer distance learning LLBs and find one that does not mention modality on the transcript. I would also check other English distance learning options

Regarding your second question: I am really not comfortable giving advice on this subject, and I caution you that I am not qualified in any way to advise you here. I did a senior status LLB, and I have at points wished I had done the full LLB. However, if I had it to do again I would do the senior status LLB again. So that would be my adivce, it may not be the right advice, but that is what I would do.

    Best of luck.

It is up to the school about whether or not they will grant credit. I don't know how they consider partially completed degrees, you would really have to contact the schools and ask what their geeral policy would be. In terms of completed degrees some schools will grant advanced standing, at others you have to start over. Luckily in this case there are not that many law schools in Canada to research.

Hopefully you could get credit for at least a couple of the courses.

I am not pursuing becoming a lawyer in Canada at this point in time so there is no update from my end.
