There's gold in them there Chiropractic scams.....

Bridgeport is an excellent example of an RA school which should be shut down. It is at or near the bottom of most rankings.

So....now "low ranked" (who is doing the ranking is a mystery) RA schools and NA schools are bad. What's next? It seems that you dislike any program that doesn't fit your pre-conceived notion of how things ought to be.

I wonder which schools are next? I wonder how many schools would remain open if Kalos had his way?

I wonder when you will realize that the problem isn't these schools or their students. The problem is you.

If Kalos had his way, only the top schools in the Gourman report would be allowed to operate.

Just when you were starting to make sense, you pull this stupidity.

It's obvious to everybody but you that not all schools are equally good. They can be RA but still marginal or even bad. Some Southern "historically black" schools are in this category. Bridgeport is an example of a Northern school whose accreditation should probaby be pulled. The University of Bridgeport is owned by the Unification Church - yes the Moonies. So I'm not surprised chiroquackery is taught there.

See www.publiceye.org/ifas/fw/9403/moon.html for a history of Bridgeport's involvement with Moonies.

What the hell? What a moronic statement...

Folks: In another thread I was asked why I though Walden Univeristy did not have a good reputation for its PhD in Public Health. I mentioned the lack or professional accreditation and the absence of ranking by Gourman's Report on Schools of Health Sciences.

From that, eric.brown concocts the above. Just amazing...

Kalos' essential problem is that he loves to play the provocateur; he loves the inflammatory statement sans proof. But if you call him on it and ask him to explain himself, he'll just insult you. If you point out how truly bad his rhetorical and reasoning skills are, how counterproductive it is to just drop bomb after bomb when presumably your goal is to persuade, he'll just accuse you of doing precisely what he's doing, then call you names.

And, tragically enough, I think in his mind he really believes that he's the smartest one in the room, and that we're all idiots. He somehow has himself convinced that everyone else is just not up to snuff, that he sees around us all.

I don't know why online fora seem to attract these characters. My bet is they're people who feel powerless in life and come on here to assert their authority. Perhaps Kalos feels his brilliance isn't fully appreciated in his organization, perhaps he feels like a little fish in a big pond there near techie central. I can imagine how frustrating it must be to try to fight your way up as an engineer in a big corporation. They're typically underappreciated. I have a very close friend who works for Unisys as an electrical engineer, did his education at a top-notch university, and he feels undervalued and underpaid.

As for these types who show up here, have you ever noticed how they come and go? Someone will pop up here, make a few--or several--dozen inflammatory, poorly-reasoned posts, and then play the victim when they're called on it--or worse, like Kalos, just start flaming away. Then they burn out and we never hear from them again. They never last all that long. They probably go away licking their wounds, convincing themselves that he who stands most by himself is often the rightest, ignoring the fact that all they've done is come across like a jerk and use rhetoric and reasoning that would get their butts kicked in high school forensics--and that's the reason why they were so despised. Or perhaps they're just recycled versions of the old troll that went away. Perhaps Kalos, JDLLM, et. al. were once someone else who was here for a short time, spread hate and discontent, then moved on to another handle. I don't know. But they are sad knaves, and they're the only ones who don't know it.

We do not have the same definition of authority to settle the question of what is legitimate "HealthCare Profession" - so we're not going to agree. I'm talking efficacy. You're talking declaration by fiat. I note in the Florida State University case, mass opposition to the idea that chiropraxy is a legitimate healthcare profession. I know that the moonies own UoB. I also know that the UoB Law School pulled up stakes and moved to Quinipiac just before the university was purchased. I live here :p

If you think what I've "pulled" here is "stupidity" and you have been making "unassailable" points, then you are projecting. Your arguments have been inflamatory, insulting and condescending, but none of them have been particularly good. The jokes on you.

Folks, let's stop feeding the troll!

We've allowed what could have been an informative thread to get completely hijacked; we're all contributing to that by even dignifying an obvious flamer's posts with a response.

Kalos just went on my ignore list. That's where he should go for you unless you want to continue wasting your time. He will give you no satisfaction. You can prove him wrong, you can clearly show him his trolling/flaming tactics, and he will just slither out and accuse you of the same--of course RobbCD, it's big league projection.

And if he wants to think he's argued circles around us all, if he wants to think his repartee sparkles more than all the rest, let him live in his own little world. Who cares? But let it remain his world, not ours. That's how you give power to a troll: you feed it, that's all it wants. Let's starve this one and let him say whatever he wants. He will go away sooner or later; he's only been around for a month, and they never last long.

I did post what I thought was an informative response to the original questions. However, it seems to have gotten lost in all the BS.

And I'm sorry for allowing myself to become a part of that BS. There's no way in the world that anyone should have taken that guy's bait.

Of course, you're right. Why else would someone with anti-DL, anti-DETC views be on a DL board but to troll.

Anyone who would like my opinion can PM me.

    I'm out.

You're not reading this of course - but just for the record - I'm not anti-DETC (having several times recommended Grantham's BSET), and I'm certainly not anti-DL. I'll probably start DL studies for a Master's in Engineering shortly.

I do think people shouldn't live in a fantasy world where DETC is promoted as being equal to RA. Therein lies delusion. It's not equal. Not even close. People outside this DL Board generally know that.

    Regrets

You're not reading this of course - but, for the record, I was thinking of apologizing for my first posting in this unfortunate series - because it's clear now I had slightly misread the tone of your initial ugly personal attack. It was smug and arrogant - as you usually are, and I've seen this several times in your previous correspondences with other people. But it was par for you and not as bad as I orginally read. I should have let it pass. All thoughts of apology went out the window, however, when you started escalating hysterically. I'm embarrassed to say so, but it's sort of fun watching you completely lose it. Sort of like the morbid fascination of watching a toilet overflow.

Anyway, I've spent your check money....

    Peace and all that.

I dont think you guys are being fair to kalos, he just expressed what many believe to be true. But chiropractors do make great living though, nowhere near doctors of course, but still good living. I wonder if there is a correspondence program for that.,

As for the clinical psychology program from City U, I dont think that's really a good program since it doesnt qualify graduates to become clinical psychologiests, which is something I am interested in. I dont think you need a PhD to become licensed and open your own clinic do you??

That depends upon which state you live in, but, for the most part, you need a PhD in Psychology or a PsyD in order to take your state licensure exams.

It is not what Kalos says that we have a problem with. In fact, I've told Kalos that I don't necessarily disagree with him on many things, including his point-of-view on chiropractic, an area in which I have no opinion. He may be right, he may be wrong. But that's not the point.

It's the way he says things and the way he treats people that we have a problem with. He's a troll, or at the very least, an impassioned, opinionated person incapable of introspection who has very little maturity and self-control, and thus exhibits trollish behavior. The bottom line is that he tends to add nothing to the discussion other than hate and discontent. Even the chiropractic comment was appropos of nothing, just a flame intended to draw fire for his own personal amusement.

Don't encourage him. In fact, this will be my final post that refers to him at all.

There is a HUGE difference between Creighton and DeVry. A 100K degree from CU will get you a 100K per year job. A 100K degree from DeVry will get you 100K in debt and a cashiers job at Walmart.

Your answer raises an interesting point. I just did a quick check for starting salary for pharmacists on payscale.com. Plugged in Louisville Kentucky as the region. Pay ranges between 67,500 and 90,838 with an average of 75,113.

For Los Angeles it ranged from 65,000 to 110,000 with an average of 88,782.

At these annual starting salaries, spending 100K may make sense. Which raises the question - what ration of education cost/starting salary makes it worthwhile?

    GE
