    Hello all,

I've had a few int'l international students e-mail me asking about how to check their schools for the appropriate accreditation. I seemed to have misplaced the link I had which listed which. For the US, it is one of the 6 regional accreditors (which can be be found at chea.org)

I remember seeing this info at distancelearn.about.com but a new moderator has taken over recently and I cannot find that information.

There should be an official online database for Canada, UK, Australia, etc, just like www.chea.org for the US. Anyone whom can forward this information to me.

    So I am looking for:

    1) websites or other contact info for the agencies (gov't and otherwise) that accredit/recognize colleges and universities in the UK, Canada, Australia, England, Russia, and even some countries inside the African continent

    2) websites of the organizations that evaluate foreign college's transcripts to determine utility of those foreign credits towards a US college (and vise-versa).

did a search on this forum for "international accreditation", but didn't get too far.

Thanks in advance for this information.

For the UK, it is the British Royal Charter.
For the Commonwealth, it is acceptance into the Association of Commonwealth Universities. - Ted.

For the UK, the Department for Education and Skills has a list of all recognised bodies (which have degree awarding power) and listed bodies (allowed to offer degree courses but do not have degree awading power).
