List of Professional Doctoral Degrees Acceptable for DETC Accreditation
The DETC wishes to exercise its scope of activity in the area of professional doctoral degreeaccreditation in a responsible manner. It also believes that certain professional doctoral degrees are not within its scope of activity.

It therefore reserves the right to limit its scope of activity in reviewing
professional doctoral degrees to the kinds of institutions and the types of programs for which it feels adequate public acceptance exists, appropriate distance education standards have been developed, and which it believes it has the competence to evaluate properly.

The Accrediting Commission will accept applications for only the following professional doctoral degrees for DETC accreditation:

    1. Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)
    2. Doctor of Education (Ed.D.)
    3. Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
    4. Doctor of Occupational Therapy (DOT)
    5. Doctor of Arts (specified fields) (DA)
    6. Doctor of Science (specified fields) (DSc)
    7. Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)
    8. Doctor of Public Administration (DPA)
    9. Doctor of Strategic Security (DSS)

    No Psy.D :(

    Doctoral degrees in Nursing

There are quite a few doctoral programs in nursing available through regionally accredited institutions with 140 more coming. Many of them have online delivery with some campus visits. Why would you want a DETC accredited doctorate if you can get a RA accredited one? From what I have seen, DETC accredited schools aren't necessarily less expensive.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Programs

The following universities are currently accepting students into Doctor of Nursing Practice programs.

    Arizona State University

    Catholic University of America

I agree, there are few IT doctorates that I have found that that can be done via distance(Capella and Charles Sturt[au] being the exceptions).
