There are some interesting offerings listed. I noted the DPhil in Cognitive Therapy and it made me wonder if that would qualify for licensure in the USA.

Most likely not. However, once you have a license as a LICSW, LMHC/LPC, or as any other type of therapist at the masters level... that could really give you some oomph. Especially if you plan to practice CBT exclusively.

I am really interested in the Master of Studies degree in MBCT. Some day, maybe!

You could be right but I guess that I'd like to think that if you earned a doctoral degree from a place like Oxford that should buy you some licensure respect. Maybe not. How are the prices?

States issuing licenses follow certain standards, comprised of specific educational and internship requirements. It doesn't matter if you received your PhD in The Supreme Understanding and Application of Every Form of Psychology Possible from GOD... you won't be licensed unless you meet the licensing requirements of where you wish to practice.

The prices of professional licenses varies by state and by the type of license. A good place to begin your search is Google.com.

    Maybe not Kizmet…

University of Oxford’s Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (not the D.Phil. in Cognitive Therapy) is its only Health Professions Counsel (HPC) approved program. HPC - Health Professions Council - Register of approved programmes

And University of Oxford programs aren’t listed as an accredited Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP) by The British Psychological Society (BPS)
Information for trainees and qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners

The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology [was] accredited by The British Psychological Society (BPS) for intakes from 1993/94. Accreditation and Accredited Psychology Courses

A Doctorate of Philosophy in Cognitive Therapy from Oxford would definitely be extraordinary, however, the degree in itself seemingly wouldn’t qualify for U.S. /state licensure purposes in that there doesn’t appear to be any like /U.S. reciprocal (assuming any such agreement exists) British accreditation agency approvals /agreements.

No thanks. I'm not interested for myself and my simple curiosity isn't great enough to slog through all the details. I guess I was just thinking in general that we've got this whole degree equivalency thing that people go through, etc. etc.

It's actually not that much information to dig through. For instance, if you search for licensing requirements as a LCMHC in VT, the webpage that you need is usually one of the first things to come up. If you are interested in being a counselor, I have most of the information for each US state. Feel free to ask me any time.

I am sure that if you searched for Social Worker, MFT, or Licensed Psychologist licensing on google that the results would be easy to find.
