The options were from what Robert told me:

    1. One of the moderators was to take it over, then pulled out abruptly.
    2. A person indicated an interest in buying it, but was only interested in the cash it would generate.

Robert, whom I know, is not a KWU graduate, or a graduate of any similar quality school. Also there were not threats of any kind either received or pending.

    Speculation is not always accurate.

And there is not always veritas in vino.

Depends how much cork you end up with in the vino, how crap the sediment is, and whether you never turned it and it is no longer vino but is vinigero!

Neither the site owner nor the moderators were anti-RA, they all are RA qualified, and 2 of them at the top level from top shelf institutions. They reasonably chose to remain unidentified, and knowing who they are, that was a wise choice.

That is all that I am saying - I am not getting into any form of pissing contest - the site is now closed, and for me the discussion is over.

So, you don't sell something for fear the next guy might actually make money? That's real smart!

    Peter,
I believe what you are saying and yet..... The idea that the public would or should take such reasonable questions on only trust is rather ridiculus. The now dead forum was supportive of the "Jamesville" vicious attacks allowing several board members to carry on such attack even there. All in all I think the board was helpful by allowing an alternative viewpoint, but an anonymous owner? Anti-RA attacks? supportive of K-W's nonsense PR? These are not signs of a trustworthy forum.

Considering the new owner probably would have resold it to KWU, BSU, or another equally wonderful sponsor that decision is one that should be applauded!

Then if the new owner had sold to Kennedy Western or Breyer State, wouldn't it then be up to the users to figure that out and factor that into any decisions about how much weight to attach to degreeboards's word regarding the alleged goodness or badness of a given chool?

Yes. I am not saying trying to make a buck is bad. Just that sometimes there are more important considerations. If "Robert" chose to not sell because he didn't want the site ending up a scam site, I personally think that was a great decision. I am making a lot of assumptions with that line of thinking so it may be totally inaccurate.

Both 'Robert J' and his friend 'J' were very familiar with Degreeinfo and with the people that post here. Not only that, they both held strong and rather bitter opinions about both this board and about us. That tells me that they both participated (and perhaps continue to participate) here under different names. It also suggests that they engaged in arguments and held grudges.

On one occasion the moderator 'J' posted a rant (which he quickly deleted, but not before I read it), written entirely in red letters, about how boards get their personality from their owner, and Degreeinfo is the creature of its "dictator" (his word), Chip. So clearly 'J' has an issue with Chip, and I sensed that the two of them probably knew each other and went way back.

I'm not going to ask you to give up 'Robert J' and 'J's names Peter, if you have them in confidence. But could you tell us the screen-names that they use (or formerly used) when posting here on Degreeinfo?

That would help me to understand their history and about why they seemed to be wound up so terribly tight and so hostile towards us personally. I really sense that there's a story behind this.

Indeed. I would be very interested. I think I know who "J" was, but I'm not sure.
