DANTES Ethics - Easy, I took without any prep. It was a lot of True / False questions. I did not take the essay option.
Posting a good link to ECE Ethics Exam Prep here... Thanks to Peace 123 for posting this in the ECE Ethics Exam - should be good material for the DSST Ethics exam as well: http://www.hunterthinks.com/blogger/2004/12/excelsior-college-ethics-exam-study.html Shawn
Does anyone who has enrolled at Excelsior know if DSST Ethics in America fulfilled the Ethics Business Core requirement? I found the catalog a little vague and slippery on this and on first reading thought it does. Then last night I re-read and came away with the impression that it does not. Of course EC is the final authority, I'd just like to read what others have experienced. Thanks! Phillip
Ethics on YouTube and other sites I found some good ethics teaching posted online. This man has posted good lectures/teachings on ethics: http://www.youtube.com/user/wmiller24 There is also some good material on: http://freedomainradio.com/philosophy.html http://feeds.feedburner.com/Freedoma...sts?format=xml Peace123

I have 2 weeks to prep for DSST ethics in America, I know nothing of this subject. Any tips so that I don't waste time would be gratefully appreciated!!
I assume that reading the two books referenced here would be sufficient: http://www.getcollegecredit.com/downloads/factsheets/Ethics%20in%20America_20080509.pdf
Thanks for the info. I looked into the first recommended text. I also read reviews on it, not good. Apparently it is a collection of the original works, most reviews were very unfavorable. I have yet to check out the second text.

I took the revised version of this exam via paper and pencil last Autumn, and I scored 468, an A at Excelsior. I used InstantCert, the Collins Outline Ethics, the downloadable study guide from DSST (free-clep-prep above links it), and the the Stanford Online Encyclopedia of Philosophy when I wanted to know more about a topic. I also took the Peterson practice exam, which covers the content but was formatted like the old exam (about half T/F questions). This was almost my first Instant Cert-only exam, but when I read about the new version being harder than the old, I added some additional resources and I'm glad I did. I took a little different approach with my study, rather than jamming hard to prepare as fast as possible (I was studying for other tests at the time, plus my DSST test site only tests once a month and they were difficult about getting back to me at first) I spent about 3 months more casually and took a few digressions. I read a biography of Josiah Royce (not much about him on the test, but interesting) and reread the relevant parts of Passion of the Western Mind, which provides a lot of valuable background to the test. I also checked out the (recommended) Emmett Barcalow book via interlibrary loan, but only had it for 2 weeks. It is excellent and covers everything in the test. The test was fun to take, but as to details of the test-taking experience I mostly recall that it is truly an upper-level test now, even if Excelsior doesn't accept the new ACE recommendation. The exam requires reasoning and application in addition to recall of facts, terms and people. It's also worth remarking that DSST now offers a Business Ethics exam that may meet some people's needs better than Ethics in America. I have not taken it, but I reviewed the content and have read elsewhere that it's very approachable for anyone with workplace experience. Phillip
I'm a little confused. Does anyone know exactly what the format of the Dantes Ethics in America test is currently. I have been using the Peterson's guide and I thought that there were 110 questions and that the pass rate is 46. Do I have old info?
I took it two years ago, computer version, base has no paper versions of any test anymore. The test was alot of giving you stories about situations and asking what principles of ethics apply.
