Curiosity doesn't have an expiration date. I got my PhD at 61 (James Watts, The Montreal Gazette, November 19, 2025)

A lot of my classmates at Liberty were close to retirement or retired.

When I was at Union, the median age of graduates was 50.

I turned 60 this year, and am still researching, writing papers, etc.

I've been doing it for so long, it feels kind of weird when I don't have a deadline to meet.

I turned 60 this year as well. I can tell you that I am currently working on a journal article and rewriting for a book. My degree seeking days ( maybe one last one to complete a dream) are almost over.

I finished my PhD at 44. I finished my DSocSci at 56. I'm 66 now and I'm ready to go back again.

I will finish my doctorate at 43. I just pray it isn't too old to land a faculty job... which is the only reason I'm getting the damn thing.

    Good Luck!!

That's not too old, although I'm 73 so it seems really young to me.

I know a retire police chief (over 60) who was a tenure-track faculty at an R2 university I served. I also know of other retired LE professionals who are full-time faculty, including at the school I now teach.

I love this thread so much. I am constantly feeling like I'm running out of time for my goals and dreams, and yet in 5 years I will think back to this time right now and realize that I didn't need to feel that way, but then I'll feel that way about how old I am in 5 years. And I have to remind myself that it's a marathon, not a sprint.

How old will you be if you DON'T do it?
