Is there a website that shows how to get credit for military experience?

Which branch of the service are you serving (or served)? The Navy provides what is called a Sailor/Marine American Council on Education Registry Transcript (SMART). The SMART documents training and experience from as far back as 1972 onward. The Army provides some thing similar. The documents include American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations as well as unofficial transcripts from off-duty education and examination scores such as ECE, CLEP, and DSST.
    .
Prior to the SMART we used to prepare a form, a DD 295 (APPLICATION FOR THE EVALUATION OF LEARNING EXPERIENCES DURING MILITARY SERVICE). The DD 295 was more work for the college involved because they would have to check the ACE Guide to see the credit recommendation was for a particular school or occupation.

Upon submission of your SMART or DD 295 along with any other transcripts the institution will decide which credit recommendations to accept.

If you're so inclined, the ACE Guides to Evaluation... are online.

    http://www.militaryguides.acenet.edu/ when the page works.

Excelsior did have templates online that did a solid job of evaluating many specialties -- I think they are working on the pages though and I can't find a thing anymore. :(

http://www.acenet.edu/clll/military/index.cfm is an excellent overview of the concept and has links to each services transcripting program.

Only if your S-1 was willing to take the time and efforts to fill out a DD-295 when you departed active duty. I found after the fact about the form and it was too late.
