Is it true that a Ph.D. course duration at Walden University is 6 weeks only? Duration per course i.e.

How many credits needed for ABD status?

Any information on the Ph.D. program is highly appreciated. A friend of mine wants to enroll but he fears that the curriculum/faculty is lax.

Please suggest that your friend consider Capella before enrolling in a PhD program. I think he would appreciate the more student friendly environment as well as the curriculum.

I feel that a 6 week course is rather short! Personally, I am inclined to go with not-for-profit academic institutions. Both Capella and Walden are for-profit.

Such offers gives me the creeps, students are turning to "clients". Not a favorable notion in academia :)

Depending on the course and structure a 6 week course can be too short or just right. When students have to do major reading and writing then I think that a 6 week course is too short.

For one DL RA school that I did some teaching it conducts a final masters project in CIS in 6 weeks. I taught this class and found it was too short. By the time the 6 weeks was up the students were just at the point where they had good research material and then had to hurry up and write a paper. As such most of the final projects were hurried. My input to the school, to no avail, was to suggest a 6 week proposal course followed by a 6 week course to complete the project.
