I just finished my Master's in counseling from Webster U., and am considering taking 3 more grad classes so I can sit for the Mental Health licensing exam--I need Human Sexuality, Substance Abuse, and Psychopathology.
Any suggestions as to where I can take these 100% DL from a place that is APA accredited without enrolling for a PhD or Specialist program? (I am very tired of attending classes!)

    thanks,

    Kerry

First, keep in mind that the APA (American Psychological Association) does not accredit Mental Health Masters programs. They only accredit Doctoral level Clinical/Counseling Psychology programs for licensure as a psychologist. What you are really refering to is the American Counseling Association which accredits Masters level programs such as what you are looking for, even though most states don't yet require ACA acreditation but it helps a lot! The accreditation is called CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) which is under the ACA wing.

You may want to look at Capella University. They have the only Masters level CACREP program that is online:

    http://www.capella.edu/reborn/html/schools/humanserv/index.aspx

If you don't have to have CACREP accreditation then you have more options. Schools such as Antioch, Liberty U., Regents U. (Virginia Beach), Saybrook, Union, maybe Argossy U., Walden U., etc. might be fine.

    Hope this helps.
