There are people who calculate the index of Gross National Happiness (as Bhutan officially does). Last time I saw that list, Finland was first and Moldova was last. I realize there are very few countries in the world where I cannot name a single city (without looking it up). Can you? So I did look it up . . . and also learned that Moldova has fewer foreign visitors than any other country. An average of 30 per day.
Kishinev. Tiraspol. The latter is in Transnistria, which is an unrecognized country on Moldovan territory, another place Russia meddles in (I know a guy from Tiraspol). Moldova is a small ex-Soviet republic carved out of piece of Romania. So it's a lot like back home, except their Russia-backed separatist enclave is couple of decades old, while ours started in 2014.
