I have been thinking in Alabama since there are many distance education schools established there both accredited and non-accredited and of course also "licensed" diploma mills... but how should i proceed if the faculty and students are planned to be all over the world? thats issue really worries me and is the main problem we and my associates are facing now.. any advice? thank you very much. We plan to offer Computer Science and Business courses/degrees with a credit hour cost of $90 to start... thanks
Mr Rodriguez, I would recomend to start with the Proper Goverment bodies in the State you want to open an operation for requirements. Here in this forum we are pretty much in helping individuals find the correct path in finding degrees (at least Legal Ones) that are suitable for their needs. Also you may want to buy The Bear's guides it provides a lot info. Good luck!
If you have at least "one" full time employee you might qualify to license your school in WY. So, first, download the application package from: http://www.k12.wy.us/FINANCE/private_institutions/private_index.htm Second, you need to rent some faculty. Put an ad in the Chronicle and advertise "adjunct" faculty positions available. For each resume you receive, send them a WY state application for faculty so you can get the license by using their name at no cost. Of course you need to promise them at least 2k a year for their few hours of service by marking papers. Third, open a nice website (It doesn't have to be that nice, just look at the KW site). From the resumes you received, make a catalog of "fancy" and respected faculty, prefereble by using those with degrees from first tier universities (Stanford, Harvard). Fourth, advertise in the "economist" and send spam email that offers your degree in 6 to 12 months for few thousand. Fifth, don't forget to mention in your site that the WY state license is the only requirement to grant a degree and that regional accreditation is only voluntary and used for federal loans. And please, don't use the name "international" as part of the name of the university. Regards,
