I predict that Cancun Cruz will win, but it'll be very close (I hope I'm wrong). Texas has one of the lowest voter turnout rates in the country, and the state government has been focused on suppressing the Latino vote. Latinos make up the largest population in Texas, but they have little political power at the state level.

Cancun Cruz was already unpopular, but escaping to Mexico while Texans were freezing to death made him even more unpopular. Yes, he is a U.S. Senator and not a state or local official, but Allred is also in Congress, and he stayed and helped constituents.

But recent polling has shown that incumbent Republican Senator Ted Cruz could be struggling to defend his seat against his opponent, U.S. Rep. Colin Allred. The most recent poll to come out of the state, conducted by Morning Consult between September 9 and 18, showed that for the first time ever, Allred was one point ahead of Cruz, on 45 percent to his 44 percent among 2,716 likely voters. His lead was within the poll's margin of error of +/-2 percentage points.

    Boehner on Cruz in 2016.

“Lucifer in the flesh,” Boehner said of Cruz during an appearance at Stanford University, according to the student newspaper. “I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life."

I've heard this before, especially when he was running for President.
